TrashPanda Asbolutely and no need for thanks man, sometimes some extra is much needed. Your entry is looking great and definitely keep trying to push the image further. It looks like you are choosing to work black and gray into color and that is great if so. I find it a lot easier to tackle the values first and then deal with color. There are def pros and cons to the different working methods but value to color is a great approach that can in most cases allow us to work a bit more quickly.
The concept of the character surfing on a lightning bolt is very cool and something entirely different than I think most would have thought of. For sure push this idea and see where it goes, once the value are placed on the character there will be a distinct separation of what is what, and the color will just drive that visual communication further.
