I have been figuring out thumbnailing, and spent way more time on it than I thought I would. Some feedback from the Hardround server has definitely helped to point me in the right direction.
I read a bit from James Gurney where he said the best thumbnail size is actually slightly smaller than a business card or so. That seems to be a good starting place. There does seem to be a spot for the right amount of detail/distraction.
I definitely will continue with doing thumbnails, both as a practice and preparation for other drawings/paintings.
Moving on to the lines next. Also I forget if I said I would just try to do the lines by the deadline, but that's what I've switched to. There's no way I would get the painting done by then.
The starting thumbnails I did were really bad, and the later ones are more like 'okay', but I'm still going to try to stick with the last one. Because taking the thumbnail through to the finish is part of this challenge.
