"Ateliermaxxed" haha... Thank you. Miles happens to have been one my teachers at the school and we're dear friends today. Later on we were colleagues when I sometimes helped out with the instruction. I've learned so much and continue to do so from him. Atelier training is great, it's a time and place where you can literally sink months into the same project to see how far you can take it in terms of accuracy. I think even doing just one year to get the hang of things and learning how to observe nature is amazing. The core concepts aren't too difficult, just draw what you see. Everything is a shape. Every line has an angle. It's the time invested that will do 95% of the work.
I find it crazy that most art schools seem to have abandoned the technical skills that (i think) is crucial to making art. To me, art is a language, and if you don't learn the basic tools, the 'alphabet,' so to speak, your artistic 'voice' will just come across as incoherent and it's a real shame for those who not only pay a lot of money for these educations but their artistic needs will be unfulfilled and riddled with frustration.![]()
Another life update: I was not accepted into the game design school RIP so I'll just learn Unity on my own and will continue to learn 3d in blender. Might post some of my super crappy renders here haha. Any blender fans?
Fun fact 'Miles' was my 'art rival' in my head after seeing his OG thread on CA.org wayy back in secondary school, yet homeboy didn't even know I existed. I was like 'how does this kid have Imagine FX on speed dial at the grand old age of 15?!' This was peek 'studying and using refs is = 'plagiarism' art neuroticism. Self-conscious to the maxx, regarding the age thing, turns out years later... we were born in the same year. lol just fuck my shit up! At least I'm feeling better now and it's nice to see him wearing his influencing on his sleeves like Junji Ito and Zdzisław Beksiński !
Trying to find a superlative atelier locally and at the right price seems impossible. I'm lucky I got the short course that I did, seems I'll be sticking for online tutelage for now. All those reasons you just said I never enrolled at an art school, because it would just be a royal waste of money. Sorry, never replied busy trying to put a flipping pitch packet together. Will do concept art sometime this year! Damn, how hard it it to get into this school, anyway! Your art is lovely, and I especially love the 'tender bears'. Most that I see is hardcore porn/erotica, but your look so tender and pretty!
