I think personally that you might be spending to much time thinking about what people think but that a total normal head space to be when trying to determine the worth and credibility of were own work. You are learning to share your work and you might not feel like you deserve anything negative because you feel your vulnerability should be rewarded. You might feel like you deserve praise and award. But not everyone is gonna wanna praise you and the faster you deal with that the faster you can benefit. Not everyone who say something you dont like is commited to harm you. It also not always a good idea to discard someone opinion just because it make you feel better to ignore or diminish what is said. There is harm to be found in the fear of not showing were work .But never feel pressure to show anything you don't feel ok to share. Some artist are still learning about oversharing and self expression. The thing about art community is that in the end you dont make art for other artist you make art for everyone and you can't expect a judgment freezone when you go into the outside world so i dont see why we should make this a safe space if it cause harm in the long term.

For the people who think what you do is weird well they are not in your shoe they dont understand necessary what you want to say in a visual form and becoming a better artist is in essence becoming better at communicating what you have to say to the viewer not every story will be familiar to a reader people know what they like and dont like and fighting them over that can be very time consuming and tiresome but can be a enriching experience dont get me wrong. There is not much growth without opposition force fighting over who get to have the last word. So sometime when someone say you are weird what they are saying is i don't understand you but you got my attention otherwise they would be indifferent and those say anything just to get a reaction out of you well they often won't give you much insight as why they dislike the work .  There might say stuff like it ugly or Ai can do better but they themselve are simply doing what you are doing in away they are expressing themselve and they don't care about wether you want to hear it or not and that like an image often a image say a 100 word and they might not like what they see and they ''violently'' react and we should be ok with were work creating unforeseen reaction.

I appreciate the advice! Ever since starting school I've definitely been mulling over my own art, especially other people's perception of it, but I really agree with what you're saying :D The environment I'm in rn really promotes critiques and its been tough adjusting to my art being viewed rlly objectively and technically, but its very necessary imo! Though, when it comes to sharing work in larger online spaces its less that I feel vulnerability should be inherently rewarded, it's moreso the fear of being vulnerable as a whole, i can't help but feel like it's just lowk vent posting lol. Which would be fine if the audience wasn't my future colleagues haha.

I agree with better artist = better communicator, hopefully I'll get good enough to convey what i want without it coming off as vent art-y haha[Image: tongue.png]
