I tend to use brushes that are pretty opaque, but they usually have just a little opacity and size mapped to pressure. I'm always experimenting with new brushes though. The most important thing is to get the right values in the right places (so high opacity is usually best) but the gradient between those values can also be very important. I'll try to post a new brush pack here soon.
