Since this one's finished, I'd suggest next time you paint a night scene, with points of light origins )staff, eyes, moon), make the surrounding much darker to first convey the night scene, and to pop out those light source through contrast of the different levels of light and darkness. These are your storytelling tools.
For the golem, I think that tree is his other arm, right? Show more integration of the wood part and the metal part by having more wood elements in the other metal parts, or some metal elements in the wood part. That's the idea of forest golem. I didn't realize that tree was his other arm for a while, until I realized his other arm can't have been completely hidden behind that tree.
