New piece, used DaZ3D studio for the poses, man the anatomy on that is okay for placing but it sure is unnatractive and blocky. Had to really dig in to make the limbs look, well not sad and average looking. But it's a great tool, especially cuz it's free; i used it for one other piece, it was my sophitia one recently, turned out okay, but i see tons of mistakes in it now. Anyways, crits are very appreciated, i wanna make this one great haha maybe even folio worthy. We'll see, lots of research and thinking on this one!

Looks good. Are you going to try and re-do the painting? I've always found it nice to try and start paintings over when I feel as if there is something fundamental to the image I'm missing. Sort of like giving a challenge a second chance when so you know where to avoid certain pitfalls as see if you can reach something further than before.

If you don't mind, I would like to offer a suggestion to how you approach your work. I get the sense in both your drawings and paintings that you're sort of repeatedly avoiding the main issue. This isn't to demean your work but rather to call attention to something that I believe would greatly help your learning. I get the sense that certain things are done as a shorthand for actually getting in and confronting difficult subjects. Let's take your drapery paintings as an example. Drapery is a difficult subject to paint because it has a very intricate drawing that needs to be captured properly as well as a lot of interplay between light and shadow. What this demands of us if we are to study the subject is to be very careful in our drawing of it as well as considering how color and light effects these forms. If we just jump in and scribble all over the painting, we've completely skipped the part where you carefully draw/paint it and go directly into something I would consider fairly mindless.

I would suggest putting a higher emphasis on clarity of information rather than complexity. All this scribbling you tend to do doesn't really add anything to the drawing, rather I feel as if it more a way to distract from other aspects of the drawing. What I mean by this is that the looser you make a drawing or painting, the easier it is to allow yourself to not properly draw/paint something. If you are forced to make a very tight drawing, like the work of Bernard-Romain Julien ( https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564...7074b1.jpg ) theres is more pressure put on the accuracy of the drawing and the proper use of information. This goes for both drawing and painting. The more clarity you have in your information, the more pressure you put on it and the harder you have to work to get it right.

Hopefully this hasn't been discouraging. I'd hope you see this as more of a challenge for yourself to implement in your workflow as you see fit :)

Tristan: <33 Eyyy i typed up a reply to you but my silly mouse has a back button on it and my thumb hit it soo... Well i guess it doesn't matter what i ramble on about but no it ain't discouraging, i post here daily to get the crits to get the shit phase over with :p.

Also redid the painting with my grimy old technique (I hate the clean lasso tool round brush thing so fuck it,) I'm just gonna slush through using filthy texture and air brushes my own way because i really hate going the more CNTRL paint immaculate rendering style i need GRIT. I don't care if it causes me to suck longer, I just can't see myself sticking to this clean technique, it really angers me for some reason.

Yes a technique (even the sight of it) angers me.

So I'm working on a new commission for my old client, she definitely has a childs mind. yeeea, worked a lot todaaay <3

Some quick studies today, and a study I'm gonna try to put 100 hours into; i saw ricky martinez talking about a study he did for that long and i thought maybe if i put in like an hour a day in it, i'll notice something everyday different; Though, idk how i could spend that many i've only spent 1 so far, and i've gotten pretty far but we'll see

You think you can just get the Asaro shape down but noooooo, there's lots more haha; Plus I got stung like 10 times by bees today so that was kind of a distraction lol.

Wasted a lot of time today trying to draw a map lol. I really wanna develop my IP (Turkisss world) but i realized while doing that I need a pretty unique skill of like... map making, the art of fonts or writing, you know, graphic design. All I know is illustration. But those things wouldn't be too tough to learn i thinks...

I got this idea rumbling idea rumbling around in my head of like a boss who has the tiki head of Earth Worm Jim, the clothing of Ryu from Street fighter, with a big beaded necklace and a giant spikey mace, kinda like something I'd come up with as a kid, but i made it up a day or two ago haha. Might be getting back to that old eccentric place soon hueuheuehruehurheeuhuehreuhe.

Anyways, plenty of people are annoyed with me in various places online, so fuck them. Why not post everyday? Like Amit said, you've got all the time in the world.

Man, super frustrated... just really struggling to make a composition with this character that is cinematic looking. I think I'll have it and then I'll start working on it and something's wrong or feels stiff, just tough man; I guess it's a good thing though to be challenged like that haha

Your sketches are great, I love the loose style, looks cool! Also if you're struggling with making the sketch look cinematic and you're portraying a big intimidating dude, it might help tilting the angle so he's looking down on you, I thought of The Iron Giant for example :P http://cdn.collider.com/wp-content/uploa...-mondo.jpg

Looking nice Fedodika! I'd suggest you work more on edge control and also making clear transitions, you have a tendency to make your paintings either quite blurry or muddy which only work against you. Make big confident brush strokes first where you focus on getting the right values on he right planes etc.
Keep up the good work it's great to see you exploring so many different things!

This is great and its been fun reading through the sketchbook. I'm sure you'll be a professional relatively soon. I'm alot like you just not as good. I can't seem to break my art habits and I also am 22 with no independence working a shitty full time job. One day.

Bjork: Hey thanks! I'm always workin on gettin them brush strokes bigger and better, and yea i'll keep on it, thanks for stoppin by :)

RaginBronko: Pro? Hmmm, We'll see about that, but you know other people will see it before you do, so maybe you're right idk; i hope you are lol. Glad you enjoyed the journey, that's what these SBS are for!

So i did a funny experiment today and i drew a head from ref right, then tried my best to make it look right in 20 minutes. Then i did 40 head gestures, tried again, then 40 more gestures, then repeat. It makes you look at things very differently. Glad I'm tackling these weak areas, they help alot haha

The first one is just kill me bad, but the other two are so much better i can't remember which one is third or second
