I've got a shit ton on the ole painting rack that needs to be finished, but what the hell a one or two more won't hurt. This a pencil study for an oil painting of my baby girl Nico, calling it Summoner.

The drawing was to large for the scanning bed, bleh. Taken with a camera.

Dennis and mindwrack- thanks for the encouragement, it definitely helps keep the steam going.

So, I'm throwing down on this upcoming Bloodsport. I've got a solid idea of what I want to do with it, so I'm pumped. I'll dish out more info once I get some work done.

Project Title: Legend of the Three Brothers

Kick. Push. Kick

This is my last portrait study for the Bloodsport Challenge. After that I'm going to start up the character sheet for the female. Thinking long range specialist and mid-range support. The idea is that they work in a team, this ole fella is the close range specialist (heavy armor and halberd) and the younger guy is the mid-ranger and close combat support. I'll roll out the entire project idea once I get the character sheet and monster up and running.

lake- Thanks for the upbeat post! It definitely helps to know that I'm on the right path. It's taken me an ungodly amount of time to understand how to render in PS. I'm slow, but I think it's coming along at a faster pitch now.

Painting these makes me want to track down some old Romance of the Three Kingdoms SNES games and get down on it.

I've only had the time to start kicking around some poses, work whipped my ass today. Tomorrow, I will be cracking down on designs.

Unfinished pose sheet:

I like the wrapping the hands post best, but I think it has a weaker silhouette then the other two.
This one is gonna be sweet.

beefy- I was thinking the same exact thing on the poses. The one wrapping the hand is the least forced looking. I'll have to rotate it a little more towards the viewer to improve the visibility of the design though.

Anyways, finally got a break to do a few designs. I'll probably do one more sheet of designs and setup the finals. I did manage to do some pencils for my monster, but i'm to tired to scan atm.

Not posting everything up, just the essentials atm.

I've got a shit ton of work to do and I have to get grades done for my classes, so I may or may not be able to pop this out in time. That's cool though, I plan on doing the same thing for my other two character concepts. I am expanding this to a full portfolio project.

I'm fixing drawing problems and such as I work my way down. Legs are all sorts of messed up.

Last WIP update until I finish these.

Doing some bird studies for my monster.

First of a few.

Still not thinking that I'm going to finish on time, but I'm using up what little free-time I have to do it.

Nice stuff in here :) I'm also worried about finishing my bloodsports in time. But hell, it's gonna be a nice addition for a portfolio even if you don't finish in time. Looking forward to seeing more :)

Shit. I kind of fell off there for a moment or two. I got my first acceptance letter to graduate school and was kind of dazed. It's like that cliche about what would a dog do if it actually caught that car it has been chasing for eternity. Success can be almost as incomprehensible as failure. Anyways, time to get back to work.

forrest&beefy- definitely going to finish up my design, just have to refocus and push through

I ADORE your work. My god you're like the artist of my fantasies haha. Huge congratulations on the acceptance, though they would have been crazy not to accept you. I am basically doing the same stuff as you but on a smaller scale: I am applying to university for the first time, undergrad. It's strange because I've even got a couple of portraits within a circular frame as I've been completely in love with that layout recently. Back to you though, your brush strokes and colour choices are fantastic. Is this the grad school that you wanted to get into? Either way I am so happy for you

Nibras- Aww shucks, I'm nothing special, but thanks just the same. I got into my mid-range pick, PAFA. They're one of the few schools that is actually attached to a museum and kept their cast library intact. If I could do my BFA over, I would probably do it there. But, such is life. Good luck on your university applications! It can be a bit nerve wracking, but it's well worth it.

I'm going to have to switch up my goals a little bit, so I'm prepared for school. I will definitely start leaning back into the traditional mediums a bit more heavily. Also, I'm going to be attacking my weaknesses, which is what I should be doing anyways.

I'll be chipping away on those CA designs as I can but my main focus will be on photo and master studies for a while.
