Zesiul
I don't claim to be an expert but I have the time to give a critique as you asked so here it is.......

The first thing that strikes me on that last piece is the figure is not standing properly, it's as if she's falling to the left. This is due to the legs and feet not being planted on the floor correctly, I think you were trying to give her a look of walking toward us but the way the legs and feet are positioned now she is about to roll her ankle(nasty basketball injury we don't want that lol).

Also the torso is rendered very nicely but the face needs some love, also the horns need a bit of repositioning.

She seems like a demon type creature so having her walking through some type of fire lit place that is dark could work for the background and give you a few more lighting options to play with.

Overall I think you know the main areas you need to work on in the piece but also positioning the figure by re-adjusting the legs and foot placement to give her an equilibrium and ground the figure would help.

Hope that was of some help to you, keep pushing it sir!

Awesome one man - you just need to place the foot on the left of the image to make it sit down on the ground.
Something like this:

hey guys, everyone who has crit me thus far has mentioned the feet. and reworked it as you see above. But honestly I think the other foot is whats wrong. I changed it early on in the image. Because I figured it was just awkward, but looking back I think this way looks better.

I'll try a few changes in the feet, I spent the afternoon doing leg studies at least :]

Also I need to do some face studies, I've been doing face studies for what seems forever, but it's just something I can never get!

Hey Zesiul! The softness of her skin looks really good to me, whenever I try to achive the same effect it ends up looking super plastic..
I think the legs are simply not supporting her weight and balanace, if you have a larger mirror, get in front of it and try to execute the same pose yourself, it gives you a muuuch better idea of what's possible. I made a quick paintover with her legs adjusted to support her weight, looks kind of dull compared to your dynamic initial pose though :-) I also found a few other smaller anatomical artifacts, her right arm was a little too long, her breasts and ribcage a little too high and her left shoulder a little too narrow. Hope it helps!

Hey simon thanks for the crit. About the pose, I wanted to have movement be present. Her swaying almost would help keep the character from being too stiff. I branched out the shoulders, you were dead on with that. I'll probably just do some arm/hand studies just to make sure those are correct. I'll have to go back and measure out the proportions. She's rather short, but her lower half seems shortened due to the above perspective I believe... eh i'll work out a bunch of things and see what I get.

So here is a quick sketch of fixes and changes I've made. I wanted to change the lighting to maybe a moonlit scene. Going back to my original sketch's mood. I'm still messing around with the armor and design. I like the pose a lot more though. Even if it is seemingly similar, look again ;]

Nice work, I think (think) that possibly the gap between the pelvis and rib cage is too big making the hips a bit too low, or maybe its just the lines of the undergarment that needs to be on more of an angle.

Also the background colour is a warm brown, and im not sure if thats intended but if its moonlit is should be cooler.

Good work none the less :)

Here we gooooooo!

Reworked pose, changed the bg colors so they were more cold than warm (Which made no sense) and she's currently pretty desaturated, almost to a dull grey. I'll rework that in a bit. Now I'm doing design.

Design ideas 1-6, all just quick doodles overtop but they get the point across. Hmmm which one to go with.

Nice work lately Zesiul! Hmm, on the last one I think I like number 3 best. Seems to have the most design elements and hints of movement with the drape type cloth.

So I bet you've found yourself asking "Where is Zesiul" or "how come Zesiul hasn't been posting?" Well theres a very long explanation to that, but lets just say it was a perfect storm of procrastination and laziness. Whatever the case I'm here right now to post. And give a slight update. WOO. Now first I'll say I've spent way too damn long on this warrior in the woods piece. So I'm putting my foot down. I'll deal out no more new ones, this IS 100% the final piece, just have to sort it out. No more running to a redo.

Second, I've been gone but I've not been out! I've gotten a great book that has really made me enjoy pencil drawing again. And helped me with understanding how to draw whats in front of me. So with todays post I'll show you some pencils!

So here it is! The first post in almost a month! :x

HERE is the final start for my warrior in the woods.

@Warre Eh I'm rusty with pencil, but it's good to stretch yourself. I didn't so much care about value on the last 2, but on the Frazetta study one I sure tried!

Updatessss, coming to a strange place, I just hope it's somewhere we haven't been before.

OKAY, 5 day break or so. GAH. Get it together me. (I had 5 days of work and school) so this free time stuff isn't always on the top of things to do list, but it's always floating in my head. LUCKILY, I didn't stop. I took moments to keep pushing forward each of those days. So here is yet another redo of the comp and character pose. But I'm feeling finish-y. As in this is the one that'll do it. Just gotta clean up and finish it. Here we go-

I ramble too much, hah. I'll (hopefully) post more tonight. And I should post more of the studies I do, but I haven't been saving them lately. We'll see.

Thanks JakeB!

Did a couple of singular studies. As in just studied the arm in that pose, or the leg in the other. Then I put it all tohether and boom! What I got bellow. Haven't touched the background since last few posts. So the next one will have more to come. But I'm a bit busy this weekend so next this post might be a couple of days.

Redid the forest for the most part. Lots of doodeling. Might redo some of it since it's kinda super green and doodley. Right now I'm buffing out with the character. Should be done next post maybeeee.

It's almost there. Honestly I'm not sure why I'm updating now cause when i update later it might not seem so great. But I know it's not there yet. Other than the flaws I'm just not happy with her design and I can't pin point how I want it to be. I'll leave it for a few days and see where I can go from there. Gotta catch up on homework any who.
