First of all, amazing sketchbook, you're really putting the hours in and it shows A LOT.
You have a good sense of design/forms/shapes. Do you work traditionally only when you're away from the pc? I have to admit I fell in love with Riley and Torch :D amazing illustrations in the previous page! Also, with that leg gif, it was something I wanted to try out by myself too (after watching Sinix's video); what did you use to do that? TVPaint or Photoshop? Keep the awesome work coming!
01-13-2016, 05:15 AM
Thanks for the kind word AlCo, trying my best to work harder tho, well, i know how it is I guess.
Sadly, you called it, I don't work enough in my sketch book when I'm near my pc. I need to change that :). I'm glad you like them, they were a lot of fun to work on. For the animation, I use photoshop. Thanks again for looking at my stuff :)

Hey man, I love the way you study, seems pretty thorough like how you focused on the leg on and off for quite a while. Love the character development stuff too! The asterix is cool, I like how he feels like he's smiling even though his mouth is hidden. Maybe the red in the nose is a bit strong, since the light from the right feels cool but his nose looks red all over - I am no pro on colour though so maybe it's right and could be balanced by some more warm / red tones under the eyes / upper cheeks or something. Is it moonlight and he's outside by a campfire?
If you're still looking for movies to study, try Samsara. Awesome for settings, costumes, colours, ethnic types. Hope your year is great!

Hey JyonnyNovice, Thanks for the kind words, i am glad you like some of the stuff i do :). For Getafix, I am happy too see that his expression is reading well but I most agree with you with the colors, I tried with the nose being a little more red in his local color and tried to add son SSS with the light coming from the botton ( the fire ), but I think It is a little too strong and is more distracting than helping the piece.
I had to put the movie studies on the side forthe past months but, I am bringing it back so I am always looking for interesting movie and stories. Thanks for the suggestion, just to be sure is it this one ?
01-16-2016, 09:45 AM

Really nice, whenever I see other people's SB I wish I had more time to study..
Don't you count your heads anymore? i actually thought it's a nice idea to do so. Sorry didn't see anything systemic to critique, just enjoyed viewing your SB.

Thanks for looking sketches and studies, all my portraits are now looking the same...f me : Almost finish with the bloodsport 2, That took me way too long....
02-29-2016, 10:12 AM
last week :
Process of the bloodsport 2 on my blog Sketches: Bloodsport 2, done for now, I think the design could be better, it's a little boring that way. It feels, to me, like I had to texture him to compensate over the fact that his design is not good... I might do a simple character concept image for him with a better design. The warm light could have been more subtle' I think. But yeh, Lets do better for the next one. Danny Phantom fan art.

Solid stuff! The volume of work you're outputting is sure to energize your progress. I love how you've been quantifying your studies and also laying out your plans linguistically-- these are important modalities for learning.
All in all, keep up the good work-- a lot of "character" is starting to bleed through to your drawings and paintings. |
