Haha no worries. I think the quiff of her hair makes her head look longer than it actually is. I did end up extending her legs by a fraction, and they look a bit better. So all worked out in the end :)

Another hero character for the challenge (https://www.artstation.com/contests/beyo...ions/19934)

Still small things I want to touch up. Mainly AO

More character for my challenge submission

Like the other two posts, I still need to go back and add polish

This next character has cybernetic legs.. she is meant to be ridic tall :P. Rendering iridescent materials is a lot hard than I first thought

Thought I'd share my final lineup for the AS challenge https://www.artstation.com/contests/beyo...=survivors Check the link out if you want to see close ups of each character

There's so much I would change, do differently, etc. but I'm so proud of myself for getting it done in the time frame. Especially since all my other concept art pieces took me weeks and weeks to do just one character :P

A massive thank you to everyone that's helped me out with feedback and crit :) It really helped me push my ideas and rendering further

great job! they look awesome all lined up like that. I love the mercenary guy especially with his kid's doodles on his shield and stuff, really nice idea :D and the plastic stuff on the lady top left, nice little details that push them to the next level!

@JyonnyNovice Thanks! :D Once I can bring myself to do cyberpunk concepts again, I think I'll keep experimenting with plastic as a garment.

I feel a lot better about how the Otter guy turned out, so once again thanks for your crit on him :)

Good progress since you started posting :D I think that doing more drawing might help improve your art, it will help you get a grip with forshortening/perspective which is essential for good painting. The loomis book on drawing is an excellent book to study.

Also some material studies will help make your items look less plasticy. Im always fighting this too!

all the best ^^

Daily warmups. Focusing on better line quality along with pushing myself past static gestures.

Going back to basics and drawing everyday

A lot of struggles. Those damn chunky skating boots will be the death of me

Need to get back into my anatomy studies and find a way to actually enjoy them.

Been a while since I posted...

Working on a new character concept: Blood Queen. First round of iterations. Want to push the silhouettes and design language more in my next set of exploitative thumbnails. I also want to push her being a 'blood mage' more, but a lot of that will come in smaller details (colours, etc.)

Going to push the top row and the 1st bottom design more

Worked the silhouettes more and started designing the (dead King's) crown. I think I want to make it contrast her design more, since it's not something that really belongs to her.

Most likely going to take the first 4 designs and push them further.

C&C always welcome

I think you could run some quick finaly touch to adjust color and value.I did only 2 thing auto contrast and played with the edit//image//vibrance.Let you see if you can feel any difference.I think you can observe the most change on character 5,6,7,8,9,10.

Thanks for the feedback darktiste. I had purposely kept the colour scheme of the second row of characters muted as I wanted them to look more clinical and manufactured. Colour is definitely something I want to play more with in the future though.

Been doing the video lessons Realistic Portraits with Jason Seiler at Schoolism.com. This weeks task was to draw/paint 25-30 eyes. Though I don't feel that they look extremely realistic, I still feel like its a step in the right direction

This look good i just think you could probably get a bit more realistic with the eyebrow for that extra realism. Also the nose since it incomplet seem to break the realism nose are often crooked i think it what give them all there charm there rarely symmetrical and will give your character a plastic feel.Avoid to much symetry when going for realism i think it important to add thing such as skin oil, wrinkle, acne, scar and mole you can even go as extreme and show skin pore.

If i would be the instrutor i would give you 8/10

@darktiste Thanks for the feedback! I agree with working on the eyebrows to make them more realistic. It's something I started experimenting with on my eye studies below. Adding texture is something I want to play more with in the future. For now I kept the studies to 20 minutes, so texture is an after thought at the moment.

@Fedodika Thanks! <3

Hey chubby cat, take all the informative juice you can from Jason Seiler, you will learn a ton. I´ve taken his caricature course and it was solid gold.
Btw those studies are looking fine

@RickRichards Thanks. Yea his stuff is amazing, I'm trying to absorb everything I can from his videos :)

-------

Spent the last day working on master studies of sculptures.

I had only intended to do one for fun but I ended up having a 'wtf am I doing' moment halfway through. I could feel myself slipping into the old habit of painting everything with a million brushstrokes and bashing it until it looked 'good'. My canvas was super zoomed in and it was taking more hours than it should.

After this I made myself repeat the study but this time focus on getting information and details down with as little brushstrokes as possible. The first study took me over 3-ish hours. The last only took about 45 minutes.

I'm happy with the progress but I want to continue practising the idea of 'less is more'

The one on the right is very good
https://78.media.tumblr.com/484bb6e5f575...1_1280.jpg

The rest suffer from kinda skewed/flawed proportions, and symbol drawing mainly in the nose and eye area. If you could post the ref i could point out why better than just going on memory
