Thank you for your kind words Artloader, it's really good to hear. I'll definitely go back to Drawabox, it's just hard because I did the beginning years ago and doing it again adds to the feeling of being stuck. For me it is really difficult, those basics are things I have real trouble grasping. So it's a method that works well for me I guess, but I need to do other things that show me I can draw cool things to motivate me as well.
Darktist, regarding indecision, it has been a problem for me.
I worked on the storyboard a little on Monday night, but haven't been able to find time to draw since then. I will be in holiday soon. I will progress a lot then.
Here is an exercice I finished on Monday, early morning.
It's based on a book about how to draw backgrounds for manga. So it's not really a copy, but there is a step by step in order to produce the effects to draw these kind of elements (a waterfall, a huge tree, a cliff, a mountain), without (just) copying a reference.
I learned a lot but I would need to do it again. I failed at the waterfall part but I enjoyed working on it. The tree bark is'nt good. It's hard for me to keep an eye on the organic things I'm drawing, avoiding mistakes and unlogical shapes while keeping some randomness...
In the end I do a lot of small shapes that are not very pleasant. But all things considered, I like how the elements look in space.
I'm still really happy with the exercice and I look forward using those effects in my own work.
