i really like the illustration! some places look a bit confusing on the left, but i think the way you executed the textures is fine to look at it.

i do agree with darktiste about the bigger picture typically being more important than the minute details. i don't recognize any particularly unpleasant shapes, and i'm sure by repeating the exercise a few more times you'll be more satisfied with your background work. keep it up!
