I personally think it's ok to focus on fun when it comes to making art. I remember drawing for hours when I was a kid never worrying about creating some kind of lofty future — just enjoying it for enjoyment sake.

Still, the Werewolf Artbook pic looks very very good — and doesn't look to me like you've 'lost' anything.
