Citrus' Orange-flavored Sketchbook
#8
Thanks so much for the comments everyone! The exercise you linked will be extremely helpful to me darktiste, on top of its intended purpose I actually just so happen to be working on some compositions that include big rocks right now so it'll be doubly useful, lol.

Thank you so much Lillen for the advice about the cast shadow, I was honestly totally unaware of that soft edge on cast shadows - I actually believed the opposite! I have so much to learn!

And thank you for the kind words Crowbit and Artloader!!

Posting a few rough Gorillaz splash art sketches I'm doing for my mentorship under Mike. They're not really done yet and I have more feedback coming soon to fix them but I want to keep posting here and updating my sketchbook and I haven't posted since the original post. I know my anatomy is quite bad, I'm planning to dive more into Bridgman and Hampton and I signed up for figure drawing sessions nearby and am doing the weekly tuesday study session too! These are also supposed to be roughly getting the composition down, if I understand the assignment correctly. They also presented a unique challenge since I'm not too used to lineart, and since the characters are stylized and cartoonish, I'm abstracting forms I really don't have the best grasp on!
