Yep, I agree with kyteki. I like the fact that there is a story here.

Some other things that cacth my eye (besides kyteki's comments) mostly are anatomy, value and ilumination. For anatomy solution is easy: use reference. For lighting effects thing is a little more tricky, since you have to imagine where light sources are placed, what color they are, and how they interact whith the materials. For example: the flaming little fella seems to be really bright, but the orange light it's casting looks off and it doesn't affect objects in the same way (skirt is more iluminated than the white dog, and it's farther). Background has an outcast lighting, face has a side -window like- light from the right, white dog has left light... My advice, try less light sources first. Learn one at a time. Good values will happen when you understand light.
