Wow the 100 materials studies are really cool ! Plus it's a nice idea to made it look like materials editors in 3d software , really inspiring.

And the self portrait is awesome !

I love these two pieces.
The material studies because it's such a great idea when it comes to learning different materials. I will have to try this myself. You mentioned in your post on my wall that i need more work with light, and that also boils down to the way materials work in that light. So this would be a great idea.

And the portrait is really nice too. I can't wait to see more of your work. Just need to work on refining some of your images to a solid finish. :)

Here com two skull studies I did and the steps of one of them.

3 hour study

This stuff teaches me so much more other than observation. It also teaches me how to properly make use of my brushes and to bring rendering even further than normal.
It's easier though to compare a study with a ref photo and be like.. it needs some more work. I wish I could also do that with with from my own fantasy, to look ahead and be able to see where the image could be when there is more time.
