Shaman Dude Line Art
#1
hey guys,

i am trying to get better with line art and characters. this guy lives in the central park with his whole race where they raid the trashbins and hotdogs carts, to eat and they fight straying dogs and catch fish and all the fun stuff you can (probably) do in the central park.

a friend of mine and i are planning to do a scene in 3D and i am contributing the concept art.

i would love some critic and comments on lines and desing and what ever :)

if you are going to pass it to 3d you have to deal with the movility of his arms and legs, because of that i would revise the design of the legs, because those dont look really mobile.
But for the rest, i dont have any real critique.

Your line art looks great! I was reading your back story and felt that the character looks SO alien that is hard to imagine him here on earth, if you gave him/her small characteristics of some commonly known animals it may help the illusion that there is an unknown race living in New York Central Park. I might try to lower the rib cage a little, He also looks like he is wearing pants. Hope any of this helps.

I really like the changes you made, Flo. In my opinion since he is a shaman, he should have ritualist tattoos and messy hair, ect.

Just quickly with some overlay/light layers.

hey atrenr,

that idea is really cool, that way it shows that he has some sort of cultural background, very smart.

thanks :)

no problem, just watch out for the designs you use or he might end up looking like a warrior, also maybe change his weapon to a staff or something? good luck.

yeh the tribal designs really made it better, I would suggest you take it into photoshop and finish rendering it out as a final design, I think what would make it pop even more, is perhaps make it to where the tribal design glow (think Avatar anime) and perhaps try some different color schemes, If I get time I will def do a paintover of what you did, and try to help you better improve the design of it if that's cool with you :) and Maybe change the weapon to a staff with a lil crystal at the top, cause he looks a lil like a villian with that weapon :P
