Havegum's study

I'm liking where the expression of the driver is going. I want a sort of crazy, terrified look and I think I'm getting there. The colours are mostly just notes for later which is why it's so desaturated!

I didn't change much today, I think I'm staring myself blind on it. I'll probably go for something new and different tomorrow and come back with fresh eyes. I don't want to work in too many details until I'm happy with the overall view.

I bet you thought I'd died or given up or whatever!
I'm back now though and here are some studies picking up where I left off:

I'm definitely rusty after a month of more or less no drawing. Really gotta make a point out of maintaining it even in challenging periods.

You know what the driving car scene reminds me of? The Walking Dead video game. For some reason. I think it's the colours and the style-- Your work's great, so keep going! Moar stuff!

Hey thanks - personally I think I've only just begun scratching the surface!

As far as I can tell, what characterizes my style is how rough and unrefined everything is! Thank you for the kind words, it's a real motivator to keep going!

Here's something quick with colour!

Playing a bit of catch-up!

I spent most of last week working on that portrait. It's not exactly where I want it to be and I spent far too long getting there, so speed is something I'll need to work on!

Some conceptual and compositional issues here, I'm thinking of reworking it some so any feedback would be appreciated!

hi Havegum, you have some really nice studies here, expecially gestures and those dogs. I see you used the class mode at pixelovely and the results are interesting. I suggest you to do some movies and landscapes thumbnails, they are great for composition and color practice. Here you can find some screenshots http://blushots.weebly.com/a---z.html. The roadrace illustration is going in a good direction, but pay attention to the size of your characters and try to push the girl's acting more (maybe making her to put the head out of the car window); the mad driver it's so damn mad!
