How the hell do I draw this?

I'm trying to study constructive form after years of just copying what I see and I am having a little trouble understanding this concept. Can I steal someone else's knowledge?

When I watch these three videos on making "the robo bean" I can understand the theory behind what is being taught but when I go to practice I am having problems with understanding the angles I need to draw the boxes at. I can't seem to see through the meat of the human figure.

I am drawing from poses on http://artists.pixelovely.com/practice-t...e-drawing/
I understand that it is tied to perspective, but..... I'm just basically drawing a blank.

Thanks for any help!

Do you have examples of your work? It is hard to critique where you are going wrong if we can't see what you are doing.

In general to study maybe you could go back a step to drawing primitive forms in perspective first. Cylinders, spheres and boxes can be used to make up most of the human figure. Practice drawing those in different shapes and sizes and orientations in space. Then start bending them or joining them. So draw long cylinders bent in some way in perspective, a cylinder attached to a box in perspective etc etc. Draw a few lines that wrap around the surface of your objects to show off their forms so you can understand how they work in perspective and help you feel when they are off.

Then maybe start applying this to your figure construction work.
