Starting this sketchbook as a way to keep track of my learning process. You can just call me Nuro. Here are some recent studies:

I can't seem to draw side profiles properly. It always seems a bit off.

Well if you can't put your finger on something it best to draw from 1 to 1 scale since you draw digitally you can put the reference direct over the space you will draw the copy and then you hide the original reference you then open the reference on an other window trying to maintain the original size so you don't have to visually rescale since you are still new to this.

This mean that at the end you can just unhide the reference you had previously place underneath the copy now you can see HOW much you deviated from the original.

As far as how much error is acceptable remember that different skull shape have slight variation. You don't have to worry about ''likeness'' yet your not copying a model from life. But if you are looking to achieve a certain ''idealize mannequin'' you want to stick to the formula.

That also perhaps the issue you should draw from life this will help you realize that there is no perfect formula your eye will get train to see error overtime drawing skill and observation will not always be on equal playing field.

Studies from late last night. I could probably work on the statue one a bit more, but I don't really feel like doing so right now. I tried doing a skull. I think I could fix the face, the eyes look a bit weird.

When you said i could fix something try to be more specific develop some actual goal you can formulate into a plan.If you catch something that didnt go according to plan atleast try to crystalize and clearly identify it for yourself leaving it in the sketchbook it a nice way to build some accountability toward yourself when you comeback to check on the progress been made.

Identifying your priority is always better than obsessing over minor flaw. For example having a better understanding of how to avoid error building up is more important then fixing the error after they occurred.Planning a head goes a long way it avoid guess work but there is such a thing as to much planning.
