PaulGanguly’s Sketchbook!

Hello all - long time, no post. I recently have taken steps to come out of a hardcore art slump, which has included rearranging my art space, and trying to actually make more time for art.

Here’s a couple recent(ish) pieces:

Lemme know what y’all think!

Hey Paul, some nice stuff here! I definitely think you should push your character and creature design, you have a good eye there. Your cross-hatching makes for some great texture and looks grand. Without scrolling down I would have said 'the ghoul' sketch was trad! I'd say just mind your anatomy i.e- Stefani's hand.

P.S- You don't need to say 'this was supposed to be X fanart' you can just say this is fanart of X, most of these are pretty finished renders rather than perfunctory sketches. Have more confidence to recognise that [Yes, I'm aware it's me talking lol].

Looking forward to seeing your growth.  Party

Thank you! I would say generally that my relationship with drawing has generally been away from the design, or redesign discipline lately, but I would like to get more involved with the CHOW activities that go on here regularly. I was one of the people who helped start the CHOW back on the old CA.org a jillion years ago. I'd love to get back into it. As for my anatomy, I definitely need to brush up on some areas.

The Stefania Ferarra reference that that drawing is based on didn't have a lot of detail in that one visible hand, specifically, and I was going more for speed than accuracy, but that sausage hand has bothered me ever since, lol.

Thank you! I love drawing with pen, and have resolved to do more of it in the coming weeks!

I'm choosing to take this as a compliment  Wink
I feel like I recognize your handle - are you another old CA-er?

Thank you! I'm glad to see me drawing too, lol. I draw pretty consistently, but seldom anything post-worthy. Sadly, I had notifications turned off for this thread, otherwise I would have popped in more quickly, which *might* have gotten me to post sooner!

I'll have more work to show soon, I swear!

PaulGanguly -Are you another old CA-er?

Darktiste-No i like a golem keeping an eye on people who still dare to trespass this land. As you can see i am here since 2013 which mean i been here 12 years so far.

I feel it those greyscale digital drawing that really hit me as being of a different time they remind me of the greyscale craze where people would really talk about value value value .That almost airbrush feel to them the bio mechanical piece scream of someone as been influence by the alien series or at least someone familiar with Giger work but also the more mature subject matter just scream something to who you are at least in my mind. Someone who live long enough to call a men a men and a women a women. Someone who probably making some people feel uncomfortable in there skin just because he choose to represent beauty where he see it rather than to make everything he does appeal to everyone and everything he does to be political statement or sometime with deep meaning...

Never talk about posting stuff unless you set a deadline i feel that should be the golden rule.

Just do it.

Hello Darktiste - thank you for the reply! I have often sort of evaded doing more mature/NSFW subject matter, as I haven't ever cultivated an alt account that's built around NSFW art, and I'm followed by various family members on social media, and hence haven't wanted to post lewd-ish art on my main accounts, lol.

I'm reasonably new to this forum, but I'm 40 IRL, and was a pretty avid poster on CA[dot]org and Eatpoo waaaayyy back in the day. It was refreshing to find a still active forum of this style, so I'm happy to be here, and I appreciate being welcomed by a veteran such as yourself!

I'm not sure of this is allowed, but here are some thumbnails for the current CHOW, entitled 'Thunderstorm Enchantress':

I think I'm going to continue with the second thumbnail. Any thoughts from anyone?

  • You must post at least one WIP in the WIP thread to be accepted into the final poll.
  • Finals must be posted in the finals thread before the deadline.
  • At least 3/4 of the character must be visible (minimum from the knees up).
  • Only ONE submission per person in the finals thread.
  • No fanart. We want to see your original, unique interpretations!
  • Voting will be held for 5 days after the deadline.
  • In an event of a tiebreaker, a winner will be chosen through a randomized name picker.

These have an excellent vibe and your creatures seem very solid! The dune art might be my favorite.
