need to do some studies but I'm trying to apply what I've read in Gurney's colour and light, no colour though

hmm, try doing a study, take as far as you can like, spend hours on it, detail the crap outta it, then try to apply from memory, this will push the quality of all your stuff :3!

Is that why I can't seem to go into detail with stuff? I just never spend enough time on any given piece. I sit there painting for 4 hours or so and then I lose interest and need to start something new and fresh. I can never seem to keep rendering one painting for ages and ages...I used to do it all the time but not any more for some reason. I get really far and then I fell like I'm going to ruin it if I try to render it or go into detail.

I also think spending more time on studies and trying to take things as far as I possibly can will improve the quality of my work. I don't think I sugar coat things enough. I can't see what other things I could do to improve this aspect so I'll concentrate on that for a few weeks. See what happens!

I decided to give it a go today but I accidentally opened up Zbrush and that was it man. That was it. One doesn't simply open Zbrush and not close it after hours of messing around with a piece of digital dough. Why is life so hard.

So I will try harder tomorrow!

Got home after school and quickly got this done before the light from my window goes away. It gets dark quickly in England D: Around 2 hours

Still going to work on this and add colour! I'm finding this one pretty tough for some reason though. 3h and a half hours

Thought I'd show something at least lol

YES YES! keep doing these! values on those keys are killer.

For the cup, pull up the color adjust and knock the saturation up like 4 or five percent and you'll notice a big diff, i do that all the time haha.

I like zbrush guy, he reminds me of tingle from zelda who had one too many doughnuts!

I tried the saturation thing and it gave it a more lively effect! But I tried it on the other life study and it was a little too much because of all the yellow on the table. Definitely will be using it in the future!

Spent ageees on the keys/ipod study so I cooled off with some doodles and anatomy stuff :D

got super inspired by a painting that I saw to get better at drawing males physiques

for your last muscle dude study, make an overlay layer, then pick a warm color with softbrush at 10% opac. glaze it over the skin, then reduce opacity, it will help add that warmth ya need ;).

I ended up using that technique for a master study and some fan art! you'll be able to see it :D

I haven't uploaded in 2 days I think, but I have a reason! I've downloaded this app that blocks access to every site, so the internet is useless to me. They make it impossible to disable during it's operation without uninstalling it.

Seriously, my concentration levels are through the roof! I get super bored so painting turns into the funest thing in the world!

@kaamil20 - Thank you very much!

Here are the workings

YEAH! It's awesome. Getting random motivation out of nowhere after a long stretch of disappointment. I feel hands are getting wayy easier now! It's like loosing up some rusty joints with some good old fashioned oil. Still trying to push pieces to finish like you said because I still don't spend enough time for each piece. The problem is it takes up a lot of time to do and it's so annoying ahaha

im doing 50 hand studies a day but I skipped it to polish the naked woman with tigers piece...whilst watching the godfather...

so I'll do it and upload it in a bit :D

Thanks for the push! <3

Woah! It has been a week since I last posted!

I've been drawing everyday though I just neglected the sketchbook for one day and soon I've completely forgotten about it! I've been spending more time rendering things out so I end up spending like 3 hours on one thing. I'm going to be spending less time on each piece for a while again :D

here are my workings for the week
