Genius troll or genuinely disabled?

This person is perhaps the strangest person i've come across in the entire art community. Now this thread isn't to rip on him, i mean i've tried to help him myself, but i just don't get how he's been doing this or even been around for years and years and not improved visibly at all. He's started countless threads and sketchbooks, and received a lot of great advice that i've even picked up a few things from but nonetheless hasn't improved a lick from what i can see.

I've come to two conclusions, one definitely more sensible than the other

1. He is a really really good troll who has wasted tons of peoples time, myself included, trying to help him improve, though he never does.

2. He has some sort of mental disorder which keeps him from improving his skills as a visual artist. Maybe this is the exception to the "everyone can do it" mentality.

I've stayed up nights thinking about this person, he even told me he was engaged, i mean he can't be that braindead or stupid if he can manage to make youtube videos, or get married as he says. I asked him if he had some sort of mental impairment years ago and he said he didn't. It's just interesting, but at first it was very frustrating. I wonder what he looks like, how he sounds when he speaks, and overall... what's holding him back. or if he is a troll, how is this funny; it's quite mean to the people genuinely reaching out.

Honestly man, I usually have an eye for who's trolling and who's not and this guy... this guy's something else ._.

I don't think he is. Think. He. Is...

I mean, he might not study THAT much and the forum posts and whatnot are a front for this lack of study? Or maybe when if he does study a lot, he's distracted... or not paying attention or applying anything he's been learning.

This is very confusing to me.

I'm still checking out his stuff in the mean time.

I'll probably try to help him out.

i wouldn't reccomend it smrrfette, this is just an example of people trying to help him and nothing really connecting; it's kind of mind boggling; i mean i've seen him as far back as when algenpfleger started out in his old sketchbook

His deviant art has 20 pages but maybe thats all the drawings hes done since he joined DA in 2011. If thats the case thats not that many drawings for 4 years. Theres a lot of mental blocks people have about practicing art. Hes probably just stuck in his head about what he wants and how to get it. I think theres probably nothing you can do for him until he figures it out for himself.

Interesting.... Very interesting......... I don't know what to think tbh xD Like others said maybe it's a block, or lack of studying, or who knows maybe he's studying the wrong way. Maybe he thinks he is already good and doesn't want to take on advice from other people that have not reached the PRO level. I've been through that with a lot of people, and at that point i gave up helping them. As far as I can see he's not really trying to become a professional. He draws one line arted piece in maybe 15 min and then posts it, and done is the studying. Then again I don't know the person at all. It's up to him to work harder though, you will only lose your time invested in him. ( don't mean it in a bad way btw :) )

Ultimately you are not responsible for anyone else's life no matter how altruistic and well-intentioned your motivations are. Sure help people out especially if they appreciate it, but it is not up to you to embark on some crusade to help someone no matter how right you imagine you are, or how much you think you can help, because it is up to the person whether they are ready or willing to help themselves first and foremost. if that isn't there, no matter how much they say they want help, nothing you can do will help them
If you've tried to help and you don't feel that there is any effect, then don't do it anymore, and why worry about what others do with him either, that's not your problem either. Just leave him alone to go his way I'd say.

What Amit said.

You did what you can, but you can't stand still or sit down with him and not move forward, or you'll never find out what you can become and where you can go. It's a balance you and I gotta feel around for everyday, but right now it sounds like it's time for you to move on. Sometimes the best help an artist can be for another fellow artist is to charge ahead and show 'em the way by example.
