I think i wouldn't be wrong in saying you use a heavy grain paper.I think what you have to be aware is how you use your hand angle the more you angle down the pencil the more lead you put on the paper but if you use the paper at a 90 degre angle you get clean line.Of course clean line can only be obtain in traditional medium via smart sharping of the pencil.If you vary the angle you can also create soft or clean edge if you aware of those concept.It good to have a unsharpen pencil for sketching but when you finish up you want to have control over the quality of the line you put on the page this mean often sharping and controlling the angle and position you hold the tool.
