Portfolio! and Hi! :)

Those painting to me feel semi abstract and as some hint of psychedelic influence with those shroom influence. it not something that can be easy to critic in term of technical approch. An asbstract work is i personally believe is mostly observe from a emotional
point of view and reveal stream of personal or collective experience when it come to that atleast to me it seem more about trying to appeal to feeling then presenting familiar subject matter that can be digested in subject matter that can be identified as part the pop culture of that era or understood as more classical work.It using the fundamental of arta semi representative way.

What you describe in that website is really want you should working to capture at least if that really what you feel you wanna communicate but also try to expand on.

If anything i really recommend you just take the time to study light in term of mood since that really seem to be what you wanna present in the thing you do. Maybe try to take some plein air painting training since it include subject matter you seem to care about or just go out and try to capture nature since it seem to be a subject that you consistently incorporate into your work. That if you want to move away from more naive artistic representation of plant and other nature related subject matter. But it can still no matter what influence your work no matter how abstract or representative you wish to be.

Since you don't seem to interested by realism it really more about learning some painting principle like color theory or composition and use your tool and create mood with value and color that really what i feel as the potential to elevate what seem to be what you have so far.

But if you feel like you actually want to branch away from the abstract path i think you certainly can do that also.I think that often abstract is a trap we fall into because of leak of proper training and direction. It easier to go by feeling than to say something that as a clear intention. Abstraction at least in the context of someone who describe himself as a someone in is artistic early day to me can feel like the artist is adopting a ''whatever'' laissez faire attitude to is work.It also appear as if the person who adopt this path as is first ''art style'' does it because they leak identity in there artistic brand so ''anything'' will do. But i don't feel that this really describe you because generally people who leak direction often have self portrait and some work that just feel like they are trying to fill up space such as work that very low effort the problem of abstract work is that it often come up look like low effort work or leaking direction. That the trap of an abstract portfolio there a difficult to make the thing feel logical and structured.Your as hint of ''structure and identity since i don't feel far of by saying it a semi abstract base porfolio''

Now on an other note Letting the muse speak rather than be connected to what just sell in that particular era. That ok to not everything is a pretty picture sometime it more about creating something that create curiosity and reflection those can also be selling point beauty is often still a hook. Can someone feel connected enough with the artwork to hang it anywhere in is house?I feel that where the semi realism part help you sell.

Not being able to connect with common subject or a linear narrative or generally resonating with the feeling of being an alien visiting earth those thing often lead to more abstract work.

Sometime also leaning into the abstract from time to time is just part of fighting to find a voice trying to capture were own emotion and everyday experience into something that goes beyond word. A form of exorcism of the mind some could say that can often leak into were personal work that might be best separated from were more commercially driven work.
