As was already mentioned, try to make sure you vary your line weight a bit as you draw. Thicker lines can help imply areas of shadow, while thinner lines imply areas of light. It'll help to add more dimension to your drawings because it adds visual interest.
Stick with the studies, they'll help you the most. (Especially if you work from life, whether it's objects or for anatomy.) They're not always the most fun to do, but they're what will ultimately help you draw more from your own imagination.
