Hello everyone, i'm new to Crimson Daggers. I wanted to start a sketchbook and share some of my recent work/studies. Please feel free to give me your honest critiques with some constructive advice. I won't take anything personal, any bit of help is much appreciated. Feel Free to add me on Facebook and Skype :)

Ahhh really nice stuff (and title) eeuauguauugh!

This sort of design approach is something I'd like to study in my spare time once I'm done with school for illustration. So, when you build those designs up, are you starting with a silhouette on the ground plane? I'm curious.

First! Thanks alot for stopping by my sketchbook! I always been lurking around this site, glad to finally join it! :)
And yes, i use the drawthrough technique i learned from Scott Roberston Dvd's and usually always start from the center line with the Silhouette and exspand out and model build the shit out of everything hahahah Somtimes i do try different techniques though :)

Thanks!! :)

anzhouTry some out! They are alot of fun!!;) Thanks for stopping by! :)

Mr. Toodles That's great! Im tyring to post as much as i can so people can see some type of path if they are training for this kind of stuff, hopefully i get really good so people can see how i got there and try it for themselves :)Thanks!

Small Update! Today has been a learning day hahahah :)

So i made up this generic Ship today :) Drew it from both front and back(except the back is missing the gallant sails hahaha) I spent awhile learning the anatomy of the ship like you would with the human body. My knowledge isn't perfect and some details may be off(or missing so far), but it made drawing these ultra fast. Took like 15 mins each :) I recommend everyone try this, don't just draw stuff, learn the world around you! Reverse Engineer everything around. When learning Anatomy for the human body, just know that its not the only thing that has an anatomy :) Push your understanding of the world to the max!! :) Going to draw some better ships once i learn the rest(like the ropes and stuff) Feel like blurting out stuff tonite hahahah :)

Used a 10% prismacolor marker, 50% for the shade. Then the rest is just a high tec C! The contruction lines disappeared when i scanned it in hahahaah

Also, i wanted to include my set up, with drawing on paper i just draw on a markersketchpad on top of the wacom(cause its so big lol)

Hey Joe, (like the song!?!) Nice to see you here. Awesome SB, as expected. You my friend are my perspective idol. Seriously, because of your efforts and obvious success I got on the Perspective kick, and am actually beginning to love it. Look forward to more tuts and exercises, I have a few to catch up on with the CA thread being unavailable recently. Anyways, thanks for sharing, it's amazing and more importantly inspiring!

Hey man, I love your exercise here with the ref study to then creating your original adaptation. I think I will adopt this if I can. Also, your music. I just want to say that, although it's not my genre of music, it does sound clean and as if it belongs if that makes sense. Basically it has a good level of quality and doesn't sound junky or cheap!

Thanks alot STRAY!!!!

Thank you so much everyone!! Im going to stop by your sketchbooks to leave a comment!!!

I been really busy as of late having to work a parttime job now but its only 3 days a week so the rest of my time is drawing and painting!! Working isnt such a bad thing i guess, i get to get out of the house hahaha
Here is some stuff i been doing
Im currently studying the Burne Hogarth Book Wrinkles and drapery for the next batch of character i draw with uniforms from past military fractions. I basically draw three poses then add the real armor/uniform to them :)
These Vechicle Drawings are me taking a ref then drawing it from a different angle, i'm mostly focusing on form and shapes

Progress today so far
So i started with a warm up then lead to my next drawings.
Drew some old style cars like the previous studies i did, except this time i did not use any references. Just having some fun drawing Some of the perspective is off i'm noticing when i flip horizontal. So going to work on that I'm having a blast doing this! :)
