Got back into toned paper , yey.How could I not after seeing for the 100th time Donato Giancola's stuff...daaaaaamn the guy rocks :O

and a part of a new personal painting I started, trying to give more sense to my senseless paintings :D

haven't slept yeey :D
Here's what I was doing through the night.
finished the dragon thing (came out waay too contrasty as always...damn.)
Although , I am not extremely happy with the painting , it felt like a huge leap forward. One of the most obvious things for me was that I started painting without zooming in all the time. Most of the time I was far away , which was extremely hard for me.

the sketch I did beforehand

close-ups

I also did another re-do of an old painting. This time a lot quicker and dirtier. 2-3hours max.

Yey! Today was a really produvtive day, even though I got up at like 9:30 am and didn't start working 'till 11 'o clock.I managed to take out a big out of my commission stuffs and as a reward I did a lot of studies and experiments.

started with three 20 min still lifes to warm up ( I had to make up most of the lighting , since it was a creepily gloomy morning...everything greeey :D ) , not sure about the headphones , maybe I'll blow itout into a more detailed thing , but I haven't decided yet.Probably gonna leave it like that.

so here's the sketchbook stuff - hands , faces and poses - some of them from reference , most of them from mind

I tried a new style of studying - doing the preliminary sketch and colors from photo reference , and after the basics are down go your own way. It's really fun!
Experimenting with textures and going for color

I went through Bumskee's sketchbook again ( I'll never get tired of it :O ) and I decided to try and do one of these.Great practice.

and a 1 hr sketch to let some steam out.Trying to put some texture in my work for a change.I've always been working with mostly the hard round brush and always smoothing things over.Figured I was missing out on something and I waaaaas :O Everything today I did with almost no zooming in and it feels GREAT! :D

yey , I've got a tumblr now - http://www.othrandir.tumblr.com be sure to follow me, I want dem stalkers :D

here's some pumpkins through the ages

a friend drew me one of these -> :3 <- , but sort of made it like a bear, so I played around with it a bit.We called it care-gollum, because it looks creepy but he cares
I'm experimenting with the smudge tool. This was mostly done by putting down color with a brush with no opacity dynamics and then spreading with the smudge tool with a scatter brush.

and here's some sketches

Okay, well at first it was supposed to be a speed painting of a flying chick in a random background, but i kinda got way into the background...so yeah

It was pointed out to me that it looked a bit like Noah Bradley's painting, that was not my intention at all , I didn't even think of it that way until someone told me.

anyway, it took about 3-4 hours, I hope you like it

and the steps I could gather...didn't really think ahead, sorry :D

2) then i scanned it and printed out a new, exatly the same version, flipped it and taped it on the backside of the original
3) took it to get laminated and voila!
