BOOK ILLUSTRATION CHALLENGES- with Sam and Dan
#1
Here it is, everyone! book illustration challenges are HERE. if the bloodsports arent cutting it for you, or if you just need an excuse to deal with more narrative, cover based jobs, heres a reason to pick yourself up and get going!

our first book in this series of challenges is in the CHILDREN'S LITERATURE category- something easy we can all enjoy and that welcomes people of any skill level. the challenge here will be to make this title look fresh and not derivative of things youve seen done with it before.

the book is JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH.

this book, of course, is the tale of a young boy who sails through the skies on a magic adventure with a host of anthropomorphic bug creatures. you are being asked to envision this in a way that hasnt, to date, been done before. there are no requirements for what you have to show, and which characters you include or leave out are entirely up to you!

the ONLY rule, should you choose to participate, is to LEAVE ROOM FOR THE AUTHORS NAME AND TITLE! this is a requirement in book work, and something you need to plan your image around!

you have ONE MONTH to complete this! (which is plenty of time).

We will be doing more adult and serious works of literature as these challenges progress, but we wanted to start with something easier and more whimsical just to get everyones productivity into gear.

These challenges are STRICTLY for your portfolio and to offer a chance to work with others in the group to improve your narrative and graphic design skills for cover jobs. As such, we will NOT be judging these, but will instead be working alongside you as a group learning experience. the deadline is June 1st, exactly one month from today.

below is a wikipedia link to a synopsis with all information you could need. Good luck!
