Love your creatures! Some sketches are inspired by final fantasy or am I totally wrong?

Yasssss! That's all I got. So glad you're on board. Hopefully you find it a great supportive place to be. I know I did. :) also, post your animation tests....they are seriously a treat to watch.

Hee, thanks! And why yes they are! I don't have time to play myself, but I recently watched a play through on YouTube and remembered how much I loved Final Fantasy VII. The top ones are actually sketch comp ideas from the game. The bottom two are Cloud and Red XIII.

You're so awesomely supportive Amit, thank you :)  I've been wanting to come in and say hi since December, but my life just never seems to slow down! Sharing my sketches here is already far more rewarding than sharing them on FB.

I hope you're doing well by the way! How are things?

And perhaps I will... I wonder if gifs work? (from the red-blue lights over there though my question is answered, haha).

I've actually been spending most of my time animating these last couple weeks, so here is some of that!

Done for my DeviantArt group: http://learnanimation.deviantart.com/

I'm also getting into the Multiple Animator Project community over on YouTube. It seems to be full of preteen girls, so I'm probably the oldest person in that group, haha.

This one has music attached over on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZhPyzsWk50

After bouncing from sketchbook to sketchbook, coming to yours is like arriving at Hogwarts. I didn't expect the sketch to move!

If you are reading this, I most likely just gave you a crappy crit! What I'm basically trying to say is, don't give up!

@ John: Hehe, the magic of animation! :) I love it!

Here is something I sketched up on Thursday after watching The Boy and the Beast. Playing with Hosoda's style a bit. Was a great movie by the way! Highly recommended.

Had a pretty rough week last week, trying to take a breather... I see everyone updating their sketchbooks and I'm like "m-me too!" but I must remember; no child, you need time to let your brain stop working.

EDIT: A couple hours later! Some hand studies I did while listening to the CC1 Crit livestream! :) Amit and Piotr are the greatest, aren't they?

My goal with hands is to try and draw them quickly and to get the anatomy right--not so concerned with shading at the moment. I just want to be able to draw a hand that looks like a hand quickly and precisely. So long as I can get the outline right, I'm sure the rendering can only improve on it.

Bunch of stuff from this last week. Including a really sketch concept comic, just to get the idea out of my brain.

Working on the design of these guys! For a few years actually, lol. They're called Theoni, and they're a race of horselike people in my stories. They're all vegetarian and their bodies are covered in fur, kinda like a horse. They have a lot of cleansing rituals based on their fur-skin, and they grow long hair on their forearms and calves that they call longfur.

They're a pompous race who believe they're the epitome of existence, and strive to reach what they call "perfection." They are very strict about keeping up appearances; scars and deformities are hidden by magic, and they come in a veriety of colors, though some of more desired than others. They usually hide their entire body from view--a practice carried down from generations of hiding from human detection, though in the stories this isn't too much of an issue, since humans know they exist anyway. When around their own kind the strict "cover up" doctrine is relaxed, and they are allowed to show off parts of themselves that they believe have reached perfection. Which basically means this: if a guy has gotten himself a few abs, he's allowed to wear clothing that shows them off and it's not considered "vulgar." Only high society really does this though, normal people practice a much less extreme version of it.

Theoni developed the runewriting aplphabet that most daemin (four races of "other" humans in my books) use. They're very adept at understanding magic and they aren't afraid to rub that in people's faces.

The following is a series of super sketchy comics I did over the week, just trying to get one of the scenes in my head down on paper. I tend to get intimidated by the thought of organizing comic pages into the comic format, so it helps me loosen up to not have the constricting page format. These two are Aydin and Halifax, who come from my webcomic Mirage, which you can check out here if you're interested: http://arapersonica.com/synchronicity/mirage.html

Aaand here are some updates on my MAP animation! I was given critique by Stringbing and I went in and adjusted the timing and things. I can definitely see the difference!

Been working on my CC1 illustration as a warmup for my animation. Only have to paint Ghost and we're done!

And then working on the animation! Hoping to finish and line it today... we'll see!

@alexdanila :D Thanks so much!!

Been taking a break from internet stuff for a bit, trying to figure out some goals and to also tie up some issues IRL.

I've also been working on a new site for my stories, and will soon be uploading some of them. I know, my art is all over the place D: But I thought I would share: The Synchronicity Series

But! I finished the animation!

Here it is:

Made a really big update to my website, and stuck a newsletter onto my Wordpress site! Yaay. The website is over here: http://arapersonica.com/synchronicity/sy...ghome.html

Now hopefully I won't have to do any HTML work on my stuff for a while... I think I finished everything I needed this last update D:

Did a new animation Sunday morning! It's dripping with adorableness, I apologize in advance.

Loooove animations, esp the last one, it's so cute! <33 The finished one is rad, too!

I've been thinking about getting into comics/animation too and I stumbled upon  this website. It has a shit ton of tips and tricks.  In love
That horse run cycle looks more like a canine run cycle. Maybe you could try looking up some horse running picture sequences on the net - it's a bit easier to observe frame-by-frame, at least for me and at this point in my studies.  Thumbs_up

@Amit :DD Thank you!!

@Triggerpigking Heh, thanks so much! :D I need to do more sketching.

@Yonderly Thanks so much!! Slowly moving into "acting" in animation, haha. And I love Animator Island!! It's such a good resource! :D Totally recommend! If you're interested in comics, I'd recommend listening to Make it Then Tell Everybody. It's a podcast that interviews pro comic artists, and it's really excellent to get to know the industry. There's also an old animation podcast I was recently introduced to that interviewed pro animators (Glean Keane! James Baxter!), called The Animation Podcast.

And thanks so much for the crit! I still have to study horses more closely, I love them a lot, but they are hhaardd~

------------------------------------

I finally finished my CC1 piece! Gosh, I'm so slow. I have too many things going on all the time and that's my problem. Slowing things down a bit now. I also finally got some much needed anxiety medication, so I'm not constantly freaking out and going into thought spirals. It's really not easy to work when your brain just decides "nope, lets make up a hypothetical situation to convince you that your roommate and all of your friends and the entire planet hate you and that your entire existence is meaningless."

Stupid brain.

I could have done a lot better if I hadn't been panicking while I did it. But eh. Onto the next!

I also finished the main meat of my AMV animation! It's crazy how dedicating only a couple hours every day makes something come together. I felt like this thing was a mountain, and now I've finally reached the first step.

I'm kinda searching for my own style at the moment, trying not to be confined by what I THINK I should do. I love doing pure painted work, but I also love lineart and comic-style stuff. Trying to find a way to maybe blend the two. Mostly I just love storytelling images, haha.

Here is something I sketched up yesterday. I really like how it came out. I kinda want to go in this direction, I suppose; this was tons of fun, and it only took like an hour or two.

I also sketched up some stuff for the CC3! Not going to stress about finishing this time. Just gonna learn as I go :)

Hngg, I'm starting to realize a trend.

Whenever I sit down at my computer I have a mighty need to just start animating. Even if I have illustration to work on.

Maybe I can incorporate my animation into my illustration? Is animated illustration a thing...?

I finished the first scene in my Iris animation on Sunday. Steep learning curve--I learned so much here!
