I figured I'd start keep all of my finished work in one thread instead of making a new thread for every finished piece. I painted this in Photoshop CS5 using Intuos4. Caricature of James Earl Jones.

Quick sketch done in an hour in Photoshop CS5. Influence by Anthony Jones based on tips he gave for drawing quickly.

Your illustration s are gorgeous, the were wolf one in particular.
I'm curious how long do you spend on the more finished illustrations?

The werewolf took a couple of days, maybe a week because of the hair, but that was a couple of hours a day and not the whole day. I did studies for the hair too just to render the hair correctly. In the most part it would usually take a couple of days to a week to give an illustration a nice render. Most of it is just trying different colors and adding and subtracting stuff to the image to see what works and what doesn't. My older illustrations like the Vincent Price illustration took longer only because I had to look up a lot of references just to get the image just right. Now I can draw a lot faster since I've been drawing longer. Those sketches of the guy in chains, the spider creature and robot head took an hour each. |
