Steve Gibson's Sketchbook

Well, I've been meaning to participate in Crimson Daggers for awhile and I'm finally doing it! Hope it brings on some great motivation.

I guess I just post my WIP's. Feel free to critique any and everything. If you do point out something, be sure to provide a clear example of how it should be fixed (I love picture examples!!) Even download and draw over my pics to illustrate it if need be.

My training is mostly 3d/animation, but my love is painting/drawing.

Here are some of my latest:

hey there Stephen. You've got some solid sketches here :) I think you might benefit from tightening up the blending with your B/W figure here. I'd like to see more of your work though :)

Thanks everyone :).

Tightening up the neked dude painting is my next step, then I guess coloring it and adding clothes and a background. I do have trouble going from loose to tight. I did it twice with realistic styles, and then cartoony was easier (cause they had black outlines to keep it tight).

Thanks Kevin, cartoons are fun :D.

Here are two self portraits. They needed to be clean simple line art for life drawing class. We're going to draw on top muscles and the skull.

Thanks Jerry,

Here is a more comic-booky flat color version of the armor:

On Another note here's a quite face tutorial. I find making tutorial really helps the study process. I'm currently working on a full body tutorial, trying to make it as clear and simple as possible. I often find tutorials skip MASSIVE steps and fail to really communicate to beginners how to draw. But...that could just be me :)

My morning drawing session. 1 hour studying anatomy in pencil, 1 hour studying anatomy with a wacom, and 1 hour digital painting. The Tiger is a surprise for my wife whenever I get it finished and printed.
