Keep it up!
On designing sci-fi maybe this will help http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0Vi97IVCzw
Just look on google, DA and Conceptart for sci fi stuff and get inspired.
Good luck and work hard.

blue, Tron-style light elements often are associate with Sci-Fi, pink tends to get associated with retro, if it's the only or dominant light element. Also, some backstory could help you figure out what details to put in (eg. if the species visiting tend to be tall, big-skulled, the door shape reflects that)

Focus.

Hey man, nice start on the studying. As others have said continue to focus predominantly on the fundamentals first before trying to get bogged down with how to detail environments and such things. Figure practice is very important and does teach you the basics of drawing and constructing so keep doing those. At the moment your proportions are probably the most in need of work, both in face and body. loomis has great breakdowns of these, so really work on getting them right with each study. You are still drawing things according to how you think they are rather than how they actually are, particularly eyes and lips. A good exercise is to take any photo of a persons face, turn it upside down and draw just the shapes you see...then flip it over. You might be surprised how much better it turns out than if you were trying to draw it the other way around. This is because your brain isn't used to seeing upside down faces so you won't be trying to draw an eye but whatever shape is actually there.

Im addition to this I would would start drawing primitive objects (cubes, spheres, cones, cylinders, etc) in perspective and shading them according to different light sources. If you can use 3d software you can render out a whole stack of these as reference and then try and draw them yourself. This will help you to understand volume, perspective lighting and rendering form using value.

Really just keep practicing and learning to draw whatever you see, not what you think you see!
Keep it up!

Thanks guys

Well had a rather productive day today did some quick digital ones , went outside and drew a roman (with reffrence from a book , didnt say it was great heh). Did some perspective work that ended up being rather interesting and base shapes .
But yeah today was rather productive.

Really like the perspective here
[Image: u59XTGQ.jpg]

The roman although this made me realize what my problem with proportions was , i still kind of like . Was a rather relaxing bit on the beach to do

Nice progress so far. Keep practicing breaking things down into their most basic forms. I recommend these videos if you havnt seen them.

I would suggest you to avoid getting into the habit of marking bad drawing with a X mark. Why you might ask well for the simple reason that you don't need to mark them if you know they arent good enought instead of marking them for each one you would have mark with a x draw redraw it until you are happy with the result and then put a smile mark instead of a x mark. There you go you are now a little more positive then before.

Maybe this one will help you figure out how to map out figure landmarks in a more methodical way?

Its been a while so i would appreciate any feedback you can give , to see weather ive made any improvements or not .
Just so i dont overdo it i wont post all of em at once so i can get feedback on more specific stuff

So these first ones are essentially a concept based on the army men games , i tried to design a 2D shooter game with that theme

It looks like you're having a lot of fun with drawing. Thats the way to do it! It reminds me of when I was younger and use to do drawings like your side view army men game design. I use to draw stick figure obstacle courses lol. I need to get back to drawing things from my imagination and just having more fun with drawing. Try to draw everyday if you can and try to carefully observe things in real life. Also you should try out different drawing tools. Pen seems scary at first but its actually a really nice feeling when you get use to not being able to erase. Great job and keep it up!

And yeah i try to have fun as much as i can with this otherwise id be put off of drawing completely lol . Ive been doing some concept work for a actual game that im helping out on so youll get to see those later :).

I really should get out into a cafe or something with a sketchbook . Havent done that in a while heh.
