Hi *waves*

I'm feeling particularly special right now..  I meant to delete my borked sketchbook post but I accidentally delete my sketchbook instead - gutted.

So starting over..

Hi I'm Imogen, I'm 27 (nearly 28 - about a week), I'm female, from England and I want to digital paint like the pro's.  I've come a very long way in the last 3 years; but I know I can do better!!  DeviantART @ http://missimoinsane.deviantart.com/ or find me on other social media via http://missimoinsane.webs.com

So I'm here for those all important art improvements but I also want to make some friends <3
- I also really appreciate comments, paint overs, helpful information/links and constructive criticisms etc!

None Reference Portrait Practice - Lineart of a clown I sketched some time ago, started painting..  Decided to continue painting it only really felt this was hitting a joker theme..  so removed the clown nose and ran with this..  Really quite pleased with myself..

Hello Missimoisaine! I never thought of using a diff color for typing hehe!

Well, you have some nice colors and values, and I'm thinking if you want to improve it will probably be in your interest to invest time in learning the intricasies of perspective, and anatomy in particular; You seem to have your proportions and observation looking pretty good :)

Since you like drawing faces a lot, I'd recommend you try drawing from imagination more. You seem to be very good at copying photos from what i can see at your deviantart. A true challenge for many artists is to copy the photo, then put it away and reproduce the image without looking at the photo from scratch. It really tests your memory and fundamental skillz

Also, maybe look into getting some art books like these, they will teach you lots

And some of the related titles on Amazon, but owning the hard copy is so much cooler than just the PDF version.

Good luck! feel free to message me if you need help with anything on your journey of improving! :)

So sorry to read about your sketchbook on Deviantart :(
But maybe a fresh start can also be a good thing to set a new perspective and direction :)

Hey Fedodika,

My last 3 humans were from scratch / memory (no reference) "Girl with Feather", "Miss-Direction" and "Spiked Collar" but I get your point and that is what I'm working on lately...  So glad I seem to be going in the right direction :3

Thank you for the book suggestions, however financially right now I really really can't afford books right now so having to rely on what books I already have and free internet resources!! But I made a note of them, so thank you.  ..I've never been much of a kindle or digital book fan.  I own some art books..  I have more in storage (I had to move back home due to medical and financial situation) but these are the ones I have at hand..

...suppose that collection gives an idea of what I want to create.  But feel I cant drift into fantasy until successfully doing realism..?

Thank you for your kind words and look forward to conversing with you more  Thumbs_up

DSP3 Dark Flame (or Devoted Follower) - "30 Minutes - The timer ran out. Aside from the accident where I somehow merged the lineart into the painting (kicking myself) and I somewhat got brain fog over how light would come through a wax engraving.. I need to study candles, how flame behaves, how light comes through wax, etc etc.. I really liked my idea but think I might have over challenged myself with this. I don't think it's too bad though.. Thoughts?"

DSP4 Ancient sea lord - 30 Minutes - The timer ran out. I don't like it, one of those the more I did the worse it got then I started panicking as I was running out of time so blended it into the background, blurred the edges and added beams of light.  *shrug* I may work on this and actually turn it into something more like what I had in mind.....

Ps. This looks MUCH better on my cintiq 13HD than on PC and phone screen :/ in all honesty that's kind of putting me off doing art.  I have 2 monitors, a phone, a tv, another pc with a monitor and a cintiq 13HD and the values, tones, colours etc etc all look different and on some screens it looks amazing and on others it looks absolutely awful :(
