Hi!
So... I've had been viewing this forum since November, I think and I've decided to create my own profile. My name is Rafał Dobosz, I'm from Poland and I am a great fan of all your works guys.

I asked my parents to buy me a Tablet last year, but I am very lazy person and I didn't work as much as I should.
But today is my 17th birthday and I'm going to do daily studies and take a part in this forum.

As I wrote there isn't much but here are my stuff:

  Let me introduce myself...

Hey! I've heard about this place quite a bit throughout the years. I figured its time to sign on to another forum. I think I'll like this one better.

Anywho, I'm a freelancer living in my parents house, milking the situation until I'm good enough to start making money. I work a day job during the day, and at night, I don my cape and loincloth and sit down and draw and paint until I pass out or go to bed or both.

Hey guys! I'm pretty excited to be a part of this inspiring community! I'm still trying to find my voice as an artist, but I'm really interested in concept art. I especially love the work of Jaime Jones and Craig Mullins. I want to bring my work to a professional level!

You can see my work at zacharymadere.com and follow my blog at zacharymadere.com./blog.

Thanks!

  Hello! I'm a freelancer + here's my story + I'm gonna stop lurking
Posted by: JordyLakiere - 01-31-2013, 06:00 PM - Forum: INTRODUCE YOURSELF - Replies (8)

Hello everyone! :)

I've been lurking crimson daggers for quite some time now. I usually chat a bit on livestream on and off but most of the time I work during streams so you might not have seen my name pop up too much.

Anyway I'm Jordy, I'm from Belgium - I recently graduated and have a degree in digital arts (my school sucked but at least I learned some 3D - in particular Zbrush is relevant and handy) there and got a taste of the game industry)

I was offered a full time job at a relatively big game studio, working in house as a 3D artist and concept artist (bit all-round) I worked on cliché fantasy games. In theory this was my dream but I discovered that it just... sucked. So after my 4 month internship I kindly declined their offer (shocking all my school and their company, because they are the *only* and biggest game studio in my country) and decided to go freelancer full time - because fuck it.

I've always been very ambitious and I like to control my own fate rather than produce 2 3D props a day, factory style, for a company of which I have no idea what it is doing.

I've been going for about 4 months now, full time. Started very casual, with literally 0 clients but I've been very quickly improving my skill and client list and overal been very surprised at how well this is working out. I can proudly say I'm starting to get swamped in pretty nicely payed stuff, and that I have decline work because I'm full for the next month (felt really cool the first time)
That said I live relatively humbly (perfect at the beginning of my carreer) so it doesn't take much to make more than I spend.

Other than working on NDA stuff I do daily sketches and studies - lately been doing 2 or more per day. (You can find these on my facebook art page) I live stream some times and generally just spam the shit out of every social media there is.

So here are some of my links! (Best one if you want to keep up to date is my FB page.)

The reason I decided to actually stop lurking and post stuff here is because ever since I started working and finished school I'm definitely missing a "community" sense in my life, and you guys basically rock. I will definitely start livestreaming more of my studies since so far doing them alone with little feedback only helps so much. (and isn't as fun)

Cheers!

Jordy

I am proud to say that I am extremely happy I found this wonderful amazing extravagant awesome great community! (thanks to Black for referring me) I've been drawing all my life but I just recently started taking it seriously! (for around 1-2 weeks)

I enjoy expressing my feelings on paper or Photoshop and feel like I need to better myself as an artist! I crave knowledge and have been working hard to become better at drawing! I'll open a sketch book thread after i finish up with this intro thread!

A little information about myself,

I'm 21 years old living in northern California. I love art, hookah, movies, music, games, and family! My father has been an artist for over 30 years (copper art and wood sculpting). I own a Wacom Tablet Intous 3. I honestly am super excited to be here with other aspiring artists and great mentors. I'm here to make you all proud!

Thank you!

Hey fellow artists!

I live in Germany, I'm 17 years old and in 11th grade.
I stumbled upon the Crimson Daggers 2 days ago.
Saw through some live streams since then, really liked the new one about freelance.
The site is great and the community looks great as well.

I started doing art "seriously" since December last year.
Try to do a lot of digital and traditional every day.
Have to get the basics down first, before moving to the "fun" stuff.

Currently try to learn a lot and draw whenever I can and learning everything about the human by books and study.

Looking forward to critic and the livestreams.
As I said I am still in school and can most likely only see them at the weekends (also limited time for drawing in general).

Slowly realizing that I should have started earlier with drawing, hope I can get to a decent level before going to university. I am not sure yet, if I should start doing art professionaly (concept art most likely), going for informatics atm and art as a serious hobby.

After one month drawing I already can see some improvement.
To see my process check my deviantart!

You can post your deviantart informations as well, going to add you for sure.
Thanks for actually reading and have a nice week!

Hello everybody,

My name is Roy Ugang, I am an illustrator from Cebu City, Philippines. I graduated fine arts major in painting. My work experience after school was a children's book illustrator for 2 years in a self-publishing company. Now, i am full time freelance illustrator.

Although, i have been freelancing for 2 years now, i feel like my abilities remain stagnant and really need lots of improvement.

I really want to improve my art, and hope you guys can help me out on this journey and sight the things that really lack on my artworks.

I would like to ask you guys what books (anatomy, color theory)or research references that helped you improve your art.

Thank you very much and have a good day!

Best,

Roy
