Great work, loving the studies!
It seems sometimes there are a some hard edges where there should be soft edges. Hard brushy edges create a lot of contrast and texture, so it might be best to save it for focal areas and to separate edges of objects. Soft edges are great for blending things into the background and for create smoother value/form transitions. I think your still lives are an excellent example of edges compared to the photo studies.  Here's another example with a paintover:
