Hey man, good to find someone else working towards comics too :) it's great that you started focusing on gesture more, for comics and animation it really is the most important skill. What I found to be a good way is starting a gesture session with 30 second poses, then moving up to 2 min, then ending the session with a couple of 5 min or a 10 min one. By the time you get to those last ones it feels like you have all the time in the world!
Another thing that i found useful is to use simple forms on top of the initial gesture lines to get a sense of how they are tilted and twisted in space in relation to each other - proko has a video on 'the bean ' which is a similar thing. Use an egg shape for the the rib cage and head, spherical or boxy shape for the pelvis, cylinders for the arms etc and use wrapping lines on top of them to show the tilts (not at my computer now but I can show some examples next time if you like)
Keep working hard!
