That last one is going to turn out sweet. 1 hr to get it to that stage is actually pretty damn good. You got a lot to work with there.

Thanks Dennis, I'm having a really hard time with the frost giant painting, spent forever trying to work on it last night, so I decided to take a break and do some studies.

this isn't finished it's about 2 hours in or so.

this is the ref http://fav.me/d5h9t46

Rat from my stream.

Gonna talk about the process a little, just for fun.

Started with a tiny gesture, went from that to some simple values, colored it with soft lights and color layers at very low opacity(10 or so layers) to get the base tones in.

From there I changed things, moved some stuff around and started reffing my rats for the head, rendering on top of the imaged flattened in color.

I changed the pose a little bit and will probably do some more changes later.

I made it a point to avoid black completely in this outside of his eye, though some of the values are very dark, I'm trying my best to use saturation and temperature to define the darks.

I definitely plan on finishing this one way or another as I have an extreme soft spot for rats.

Here's the sketch so far.

PS. There are some anatomy issues and some with the pose itself, hopefully I'll resolve most of them.
