your shapes are looking great jak, dont be afraid to play around with the thickness and thinness of your llines more. For instance your girls jawline, you could draw quite thin lines there to enhance the feminine shape of it; and youll notice really great artists are super nerdy about very small variations in line weight; it has this weird magical effect when you do it well, it really enhances how the eye moves over the forms

i see i see--i really *really* don't understand color/light so my line weight is really weird hahaha i use line to over compensate for my weak areas and...yeah. gotta fix that :  ( lol thanks a lot bro

so... a couple tips because ive been studying this myself recently.

1.Copy other inkers and steal their tricks; specially people who do colored ink style like you wanna do.
2. you can use multiple color lines to show contrast with the color, it doesnt have to be all black lines; For instance a hot red line can pop out forms where, sure it wouldnt really look like that but it shows form and looks appealing.
3. Personally i like ultra thick lines on the eyes, it makes them feel more engaging
4. take the shapes of your hair for example and make sure they read very clearly; you can still have the gritty texture, but make sure those individual shapes could be clipped out cleanly, and make the tone also higher or lower enough to show its a different shape.
5. remember the lost edge principle when you do lines, lose things in shadows, zoom out and see, can you simplify and drop stuff in a cast shadow to save time and in the end itll look more convincing anyways.
6. The more definite you make your shapes the more engaging they are... if something kind of a circle, make it really a circle, which you did with the hair bun for example. With cartooney styles everything is designed  very meticulously.
7. Try to omit unecessary details like little buckles ropes or buttons unless theyre really important; which you are doing for the most part
8. always be experimenting with poses, the designs of the limbs youre drawing and finding the most (graceful, cool, explosive etc.) appealing pose you can :)
