What make you really good is when you expose yourself to critic it drastically increase the amount of feedback you receive.It also inform you on all the resource availble and it increase the amount of information you need to process . If you wait to be a pro you missing the opportunity of learning even faster. But if you start lower you create yourself a ladder of support to reach that point.Of course to be recognize you need to show value that why you start streaming critic and do paint over than you transtion to doing your own thing.It all about staying outside the comfort zone. Why not trying 1 day a week for 3 week and see if you like it.It not like you sign a contract.I see you give alot of critic so why not.Believe you can do it don't let pro tell you what is possible =P.Good luck wish you the best.

HEEYYYYY am I dead? I sure the fuck am but dude, my favorite koala is really coming up in here with the best studies in the world?! I know I give you compliments every time I come here but... your form and facial proportions got SO much better the last time I was here. I am here to remind you that you are super duper hardworking and if anybody tells you otherwise they are fake... they are wrong... and they do not deserve your presence.

Darkiste: what you said got me thinkin a lot about some things i could try. I do love giving critiques, but i cannot stream as my internet is too slow, but i would alot if i could. So i had the idea to do like a weekly tutorial to condense what i know and see if i can explain it in words so that someone else can digest it themselves. I did one today in my whimsical style on basic head construction. I doubt anything i put out will get any traction, but it'll be nice to have that available for myself, specially since i need to learn anatomy and i need an incentive to lock down my knowledge. If i cant teach it, i don't know it, that's how i'll know. So thanks for your comment, it gave me a lot to think about and something positive to work towards.

And i'd love to give critiques, just gotta do em, but there's very little reward for the time put in. My mentor charges me 100$ for critiques a month, so I'd love to find a way to get involved in something like that!

Voodoo: Kind words are always appreciated my man. My work isn't quite good enough to be head turning, but i am always slowly getting closer. and Picasso shit is an interesting way to describe quick sketch lol, I will get around to some longer efforts soon. Abstractions like the Reilly and the watts are amazing for proportions! Thanks for stopping by :)

Anyways, here is my tutorial i made to spat out the stuff i know about head drawing. I would have loved to know all these things back when i started out, so i was going off of that premise for what to include. I want to make it a weekly thing so i can really hold myself over the coals to make sure I'm locking knowledge down and not just thinking im getting by zoning out. Next week I'll do gesture, and tomorrow i'll do two abstractions since i missed it today. This will probably be crucial to me getting anatomy deeply ingrained in my head, so i'd better really go for it :O

Darkiste: I thank you for that lol, i mean, there's no shortage of good feelzies in me. I'd say you'd have to be delusionally positive to do what i do ya know. I mean im just non stop inspiration, i dealt with most of the lows of art in this sketchbook maybe 30-40 pages back, it was as rough as it got. Now its just a matter of sitting down and going through watts and filling in holes im very aware of, lol. Positivity is something i am full of, its why i post daily, to maybe a small audience, but i get a couple dozen views so i know some people are checking in whether they pipe up or not :)

Annnnnnnnnnd doing these abstractions just makes me more and more painfully aware of how anatomy falls short for me in some areas like the small subtleties of the tendons that wrap in the knee. Need to really sit down, and learn the insides and out of these things, it'll pay off big. I think once i get some nice life drawings that are wall-hangers as jeff would call it, I'll be ready to get back into composition or other shit, but for now i just struggle at life drawing, and getting the abstraction tight and knowing the anatomy will surely help make that go much smoother, as im seeing anyways.

I think my biggest advice if you want to make tutorial is too take the time to make them good looking why i am saying this well for me a tutorial is like the artist business card people when they find those tutorial they save them and even share them on stuff like pinterest that how you can get traction all you got too do is add your name and a few link too your stuff.Make them fun for the eye and interesting to read i don't advice to use the brush to write the text find a nice text police and check spelling it stupid but it can make a diffence.

Darkiste: yea i got like less than 5 likes on that one despite having a lot of fun with it, and putting like 5 hrs of work into it. I noticed yea most tutorials that do well are pretty immaculate and nowhere near as whimsical as mine. But we all know at this point Fedo never gets anything right the first time... or the 1500th time LOL; yea i'll give it a shot making it more precise. Maybe a super simple construction thing, then just some well drawn examples because it can be hard to find quality line drawings that are worth copying of various anatomy. It'll also push me to make stuff that worth copying; probably wont be able to fit much meme stuff in there.

Maybe i could also, do it clean and presentable for a while, then if I get people interested, go back to being whimsical, but still I dont wanna overthink this stuff, its mainly just to lock stuff down for myself anyways. I need money eventually so, i should probably just not be whimsical since its unappealing to most people, i mean i love it, its quite rare tbh. Works in caricature tho! $$$$$$$$$$$


Life drawing was fun today, but also frustrating! noticed my stuff is getting a lot less skewed, and now its just more out of proportion, which is taking a big problem of mine off the table. the abstractions really help with that mirror concept, even though mine are very scratchy and wrong wrong wrong lolol; Gonna try to do an imagination sketch tomorrow, maybe something generic like an action pose, but do it well. Also gonna tank through some more watts since these videos for quick sketch are hitting the hour makes instead of the regular 25-35 minute mark. Getting into the longer ones like the 5s will help a lot. Then once i finish those i'll finally do head drawing IV and figure IV which should actually be easier since theyre for longer efforts ;)

aight just blastin through, should have twice as much stuff tomorrow hopefully; Ive seen jeff do enough quick sketches where i can guess what hes gonna do next and often my logic is syncing up with what i see, so that is only good ;)

Gonna try and do lots of invented figures tomorrow, kinda hampton-ish to see where im at with that, should be a good challenge, but i prolly wont end up adding a lot of character to the figures, its more a construction and invention test of the core fundies.

You must know me by now that i can't resist painting over your stuff to learn and give you advice it a win win.I think you need to start uping you game on hair rendering i am not a good example yet.For the value i think i allready mentioned strong contrast is key you still paint to much near the same value as the background.For blending i think you could improve but you would need to take in account what i said about value or else you don't see that you leave brush mark don't forget to zoom in and zoom out to check how much you still need to blend.

(I learned this all via Bill Perkins composition class on New Masters Academy

So, in composition there are these things called Major and Minor keys. Major means the overall values of the image tend to lend towards
High- 1-5 value
Mid- 3-8 value
Low 5-10 Value
(nothing is objective with that, its all ballpark^ though i think a machine could guess well if programmed well)

Minor key is basically the amount of contrast per image. Heres basically a source if you wanna read more:

I could list all variations but you get the idea lol. So no, raising the value contrast is not necessarily the way to make an image better, there are many subtleties and variations value ranges can achieve to set different moods. A good exercise my mentor had me do was take a master painting and make 9 variations of the values to see if i can do it using the sliders (its a feccin, I'll include it below.)

Anyways, here is a 90% imagination figure i did, that felt very satisfying like a good bowel movement. I think had i done this early on, just draw the best figure you possibly can from your mind, then the stuff you get hung up on use reference; would have progressed me much further than scrambling around doing tons of purely imaginative work or purely zoned out reference work with no attention to bettering or designing the reference. 

Another good way is to think of it like a sculpture, you know, your drawing is your sculpture. is it solid? If you turned it an inch would it make sense how its indicated now? Also some Gesture tips i had contemplated on for the week. Tried to make it as immaculate as i could manage; Next week I'll do some features like eyes maybe, since the internet can never get enough eye drawing tutorials ;)

Alrighteyyyy, so i on a whim decided to draw Taki, and i had way too much fun doing it. The pose is entirely invented, but i used ref for the costume, and admittedly i could refine it some more mainly like the straps and plates on the arms, but theyre just little details. Might draw a few more soul caly peeps since im glad theyre still continuing the series and drawing this subject matter holds my attention well. also need to finish up those last few quick sketch vids, they help a lot.

In other news i got the Masters of Anatomy books which are like these cool collaboration projects in one book of like over 100 different artists give their take on the idealized male/female figure in a static pose. Its got great stuff like Stanley Lau, Adam Hughes, and Joe Mad, etc. and being able to see the huge difference in idealization is awesome. Also got the second book with all the awesome poses, so im gonna copy those a lot since i love the dudes shape choices and line work, stay tooooned

Darkiste: yes i enjoyed doing the sketch very much, could always be more dynamic! I like how the hardest part of coming up with things is just coming up with them, the technical side is getting easier which is huge. Im not sure if i'll end up rendering any of these SC sketches, perhaps! thx <3

Just some life drawings from friday, I'll probably make a big dump at the end of this week of all the other studies im doing via my new books. Im trying to come up with a pose for Ivy its just tough, iteration after iteration, i dont want to steal the pose from her concept art. Its something i gotta practice is just iterations, im not used to it so that'll be a good thing to accomodate myself to :)

I really like the Ivy sketch, I think the ornate frame works great with the pose, you should maybe push it further I think it can turn in to a really good drawing.
