Nice study. That's Sargent, right? Looks like you're going at it with big, well-placed strokes like he would instead of trying to fake it. Good to see.

Newst project i'm working on now for a class assignment / portfolio piece.

If anyone has ideas to improve it please let me know, other than the female figure to be, she's just a place holder right now so everything about her is wrong other than the idea.

Good work so far man, with the last piece i would be very careful in the design of that creature as its a lot like one of Kekais. Not to say its bad, but rather take into account things like his forearms which have the same wood guard forearms and such.
Otherwise good stuff!

I was trying pretty hard to find my own way with it without copying from kekai. I even looked at alot of his tree ents to try not to copy from his designs. I guess I failed pretty heavily. I'll browse through his gallery and see where i went wrong. He's definately one of my favorite artists though.

Wow fuck my life, it looks almost exactly like one of kekai's tree monsters in a way. I can honestly say i've never seen that piece before but its pretty uncanny. I was just basing my ref off his elf girl image where she's toughing the ents forehead and thought i'd run with a tree ent of my own based off the anatomy of a gorilla made of bark. I might go cry

hahaha its not all doom and gloom bro, you can fix stuff up still, hell i just sunk about 2 hours into a painting and royally fucked it, and now i have to go paint over it again! You can definitely just redesign a few elements of it, i think its really the arms that look similar, change them and i think it will give it a different feel

I'll do my best to salvage it at this point. I just dont know what to make the arms other than giant tree stumps. Im just glad you pointed it out before I finished it and possibly used it as portfolio material or got torn apart on Da or something.
