@Slapper Ive seen this guy before! I can do a paint over on it if thats ok with you
@Yusuf Zmirlin Nice studies. Again check your values, its seems theres not enough variety on it. Also think about focus and points of interest on a landscape, try to make this areas a little bit more sharpened and refined.

great stuff everyone!

some super messy thumbnails from me, I had so much fun drawing these, finally at a point where I can let my imagination out (pretty generic for now but like a hose pipe you got to blast the junk out the end first!)

@Caisne Here is an updated version, tried to fix the pose with a photo, not too sure it worked. A paintover would be greatly appreciated!

Nice study everyone, sadly not much I can comment on environments. =(

Hey guys awesome work! I really aim to get back to arting regularly soon so I can contribute; I spontaneous-quit my job last week and aim to amp up freelance, so come mid Feb I should have a bit more time until money issues force me into non art work again. (hopefully not)

Ihor, I like the desaturated enviros actually with the touch of colour vibration. The values are solid.

Art 44 and Ihor, and anyone doing enviros, remember to change up the POV and perspective as well: they are all looking flat out at some vista. Also maybe try and avoid "dude with stick" syndrome sometimes. I know it's an easy out for scale, but there are other solutions.

Jyonny: you are mixing it up right, just maybe be a bit tighter on your perspective, even in these quick thumbs.

Slapper: I think you need to pay much more attention to building and showing form. Before jumping into paint, perhaps do some line work that focuses on building primitives and any objects using just a centre line and surface contours to define the surface. Peter Han's dynamic sketching class in CGMA uses this approach. Lighting will be easier to nail if you nail the form.

Art44 Thanks man, I'm gonna try and paint one. Nice concepts too.

Amit Thanks for the comments, I'll work on tightening things up a bit.

Rama Looking nice still, even if you didn't learn much.

Trying to paint my throne room scene from above... idkwtfimdoing with digital drawing / painting. It's been so long since I tried it, just playing around for now trying to find a brush I like for lines and adding value. Kinda fixed up the perspective a bit on this one, I'll do another pass and get the perspective and scale on the near torches fixed up, get the scale of the characters right, then I'll probably follow Shaddy Safadi's painting series and get all of the objects silhouettes on separate layers. Then do the same with the characters, fix up the poses, then work on values and who knows maybe even colour... I might abandon it halfway as that'll take me a long time to do all that, but we'll see!

I'll crop the image eventually to cut out the empty space at the bottom or maybe add more of a foreground element.

@Amit Dutta really like the composition on the second one, Amit. The last one is also nice but i guess tilted horizon is little bit more suitable for dynamic scenes, and this one seems to be kind a chilled. Get back on track soon man!

JyonnyNovic forgot to mention in my previous post. Try to make the frame of the thumbs more wide, right now its a little bit too square like. its not too suitable for an environments.

few things i did recently

Ihor Thanks man, I'll try it wider next time. The cutaways are looking really cool, I love this kind of plan with the clean simple look (I'm sure it's not as simple to draw), great job!

Amit Great sketches, if this is rusty I can't wait to see when you're warmed up. I agree about the last one, the tilt is really great but I was looking at it a little confused and didn't know why til Ihor said.

Just some poses from me today:

I'm usually pretty happy with my drawings in front of me on paper, but then I scan them and come to post here and they feel kinda lame... got to keep pushing! eye of the tiger and all that.

Nice work everyone! Here are some studies for the day + my robot thingie (lost some progress due to forgetting to save). Today was a decent day overall, didn't procrastinate much (turn out that exercising when you're tired helps a lot). I also did a school project but I still feel kind of slow when looking at the work I did. Maybe ill get faster with practice or maybe I need to work for more hours?

@Ihor and Jyonny. Thanks dudes. Yeah that dutch angle on the last one is retarded. Not sure what I was thinking?
I love those little isometric enviro breakdowns. Might have to have a go at some point.

@Slapper. Speed comes with practice and is not a good criteria to measure your work in and of itself.

here's stuff from the stream. did way more work, but photoshop decided to crash and loose my stupid drawings

Slapper Don't count the hours it takes, do it as slow and careful as you need to get it right, like Amit said you will naturally speed up. It's tempting to try and rush and speed draw things but resist that! be slow and careful - even in a 2 min gesture drawing you should still be 'slow and careful' - although it looks fast to someone watching. If you try and speed things you usually end up with result you aren't happy with, so the time you save was kind of wasted anyway (in a way). Of course there is speed drawing that's loose and free and creative but for the sake of studies and illustrations careful is the way to go! (speaking from experience of rushing too many things and getting frustrated by it). About hours of study, I think 1hour a day you will improve, but slowly, 3hours+ and you will improve much quicker, 6hours+ if you have time and really really wanna get good.

Some skulls, from ref then memory like Ihor suggested before, I can really feel the benefit (although my memory one is wrong, but it's just the first go). Then a house in perspective - warming up for architecture studies.

@Amit Dutta and @JyonnyNovice thanks for the advices, just seem weird to only do like 4 drawings and being done for the day. Also nice studies both of you.
@ramalooke nice studies, I'm trying to do colors coded studies too.
@art44 Love your thumbnails, the skull remind me of the one in the desert of Aladdin. =)

Here's some stuff done today.
