Love the creepy vibe of the 9-12 piece and LOVE her hands. For the latest, I agree with Joseph about the boarder. How it's curving around like a tree, but also looked hand-carved makes it look magically looking. Unnatural, but beautiful, definitely matches the theme! I'm not too familar with DnD, but is she a zomie of some kind? She looks spaced out and her mouth a little goofy and off-beat.

Your digital work (at least from by perspective) is very good. You already have a solid style down, but if this isn't your full ability, I would be very interested to see your traditional work. :)

Great job with your latest, it's very well drawn and painted.  I don't have any serious critiques on it since you were working with a budget and it wouldn't benefit you from over working on it, but overall well done!  Looking forward to seeing more works from you as I really enjoy your style, so please keep it going!

Danke danke. If anything my current issue is burnout, working solidly for a block of time then hitting a wall. It takes a while for me to come back to fix problems. Currently trying to plan out images more before getting to far into it.

I've completed 12 small monster designs for a commission. Not posting all yet as the second half I'll look at doing when it picks back up in July. I have a few other jobs to do in the meantime.

This week's CHOW - putting a brief hold on it while I work on a background. I started one but scratched it - I think I want to make it fit somehow into like an MTG card - I'll come back to it!

I appreciate it - it's not so much what I was envisioning so I'm not that attached this version - but I think the concept is something to revisit - next time actually thinking about composition with background elements.

I think I've been doing pretty well this past year or so in regards to not over-sharing details about my personal life like I had a habit of doing, but it's very hard right now and the Burnout is riding me and grinding me down, so I've been quiet.

The CHOW turned into a vanity project to throw myself into while I be coping and trying to stay productive while I await an art assignment for a project I'm excited for. I've ordered a print made and will pop it up next to my bugs. I might even go back in with a brush and powdered graphite to add shadows - they were stronger at first but I reduced them thinking it was too stark against the page. But I want her to pop. I refuse to read whatever I put at the bottom - I was half asleep and it's probably rubbish.

If digital painting feels too synthetic, maybe experimenting with mixed media or traditional methods could give your work that authentic touch you're after. And don't sweat it about being self-taught.

Thanking you, I cheesed it slightly by paper-dolling an anatomy figure and liquifying it to give it more pixie-ish form, then used that as reference. I needed to reference something by sight but not while it was still humany. And the organs are mostly frog and rat referenced because I think it's appropriate to think of them as part rodent, part amphibian.

She printed out really well, and I stayed within a simple workflow - glad to see it pay off. Thank you.

You may be referencing a very old post and missing out on some progress I happen to be happy with :)

My current struggle is Burnout and keeping up with the hits the universe sends out.

The previously mentioned burnout was career-related. I am managing commercial admin for two states, on my lonesome, and people wonder why when I drop out sick things go to shit . 

Current burnout is Health and circumstance. I've refunded and withdrawn from a couple of small commissions and one big project that I was super exited for before I became ill - so from July through to beginning of Sep I've been fighting off combined sinus and lung infections, possibly the myoplasm or whatever legionnaire's disease that was doing the rounds. I had an allergic reaction to antibiotics that had clavulanic acid (of which I've had before, no issue) that put me in urgent care, which was altogether scary and not fun, I do not rate. -5 out of 10. At the same time we got notice to leave again so we moved house again and no I have not unpacked fully yet. Also my Display tablet wouldn't turn on and started smoking out the back so I am yet to take it to a repair guy. At least I still have my Galaxy Tab (*crosses chest*) Overall I have not saved any money this year, and have not kept up with my 2024 plan of putting my head down and getting busy... 

But I have a garden now so maybe there'll be botanical paintings towards the end of year. Gotta look on the bright side.

Jokes were had along the lines of which Heathen God did I displease. On the flip side it could also be the universe's way of trying to get me out of my situation, day job etc. And the only way to do that is NDE. 

The kickstarter I withdrew from I was really looking forward to, but I just couldn't do it. Not when they also have competition and were looking for early works, and all I had was loose fever driven trash. Don't really feel like a failure though as there opportunity to work with the publisher in future works. Now I'm just going to do what I do just as well and fangirl the other artists. 

You win and you lose.

Life is hard and art is hard. Don't let your current circumstances determine your future outcome. I have been making pictures for money for a long time now and I certainly feel the weight of your struggle. Focus on getting your body well and you will see that the rest will become easier. We focus so much on getting our skills better that we forget we are living beings that need to be in good shape too. Give yourself the grace to feel well before you worry about work. BTW your work is great and I want to see more of it, but only when you are well enough to make it!
