  Hello all!
Posted by: DonkeyCobra - 02-07-2021, 07:37 AM - Forum: INTRODUCE YOURSELF - Replies (4)

Hey all, I read about this place on reddit after searching for a conceptart-like forum to join.

I have some talent and have doodled on and off for years but recently I decided that I would be sad if I didn’t develop it as far as I can before I die someday.

I wish I had a goal to share beyond that (becoming an illustrator or a concept-artist, etc.) but I don’t. I just want to be as good as I can with what I have.

Hey everyone!

I've been posting around for a little while now but I'm really excited to be here!

A little introduction: I'm a concept artist from the Netherlands, doing this for... about 5 years professionally now. Shipped a game I'm really proud of (Deliver Us The Moon), and some more that I'm less proud of haha.

I'm 27 now, have a nice job, a good place to live, but I feel like I'm heading towards an artistic dead-zone. I missed out on forming a close artist friend-group (all my friends are programmers or game designers basically), and the contemporary social media landscape is just not fulfilling that wish for more in-depth, thought-provoking critique, feedback, and encouragement.

Crimson Daggers seems like the place to be. Looking forward to meeting all of you!

  Hello Community!

Hi, I look forward to getting to know this forum a little better.
Art has been a hobby for years and I have been exercising sometimes more, sometimes less.
I hope this time my motivational flame will burn strong and I will make some steps forward with my art.

Another hobby I recently discovered is making little adventure games, so for that it would also contribute if I could make better backgrounds/sprites etc.

Apart fom that I have a dog - Name is Momo.

See ya around!

Hey all,
Inactivist here. I've been drawing on and off since I was a kid but only really started getting serious about improving at art last year. I've been trying to self-learn from YouTube videos and any other free resources I come across on the internet. Currently I've been pursuing figure drawing and texture drawing.

My hobbies outside of art include video games, anime and movies mainly.

Glad to be here and hope to see you all around soon!

Hello, dear artists! I have heard about Crimson Daggers from the old Dave Rapoza’s stream. Been loorking here for a while and finally registered. This forum is like a dream place: a lot of people giving feedback and things are not so fast-paced as in art chats.

A trivia about myself. Till last half a year or a year I thought I want to be a character concept artist, but actually didn’t produce any character designs - paradox. I mostly drew fanarts with modest plot(flying heads, people just standing etc). I haven’t seen progress for a long time. In last year I was trying to improve, had mentorship in summer-autumn. Well, I think I hardly progressed, but mentorship confirmed some of my vague guesses about art process and showed that people are not the only fun thing to draw. C:
Right now i want to see more planning and self-discipline in my study. And also to determine where to aim in gamedev. No to being a potato! Blushing

...also can somebody pls explain how to attach images? I tried "New Attachment" button, but the image didn't appear in the comment after posting. File weight was 398 KB

I am a new artist with a passion to create. I am almost always willing to take on a challenge. I am a current college student and am going to double major in art and new media studies. Thank you for having me here.

My specialty is digital art. In that category, I am good at weird creatures, and photo drawing hybrids.

I suck at people.

once again thank you for having me here. Smile Smile

Hello everyone.
I'm a 19 yo female art student living in a dystopian country.
I tried choosing a cool username, but you can call me Yen if that's better

I'm very absorbed by my academic future for the reason that it's the only viable option to find a community of dedicated artists IRL. And that I'm completely obsessed with it.. Blushing

I don't make for the best person to hold  a casual conversation with, I usually have trouble talking about day to day subjects with ease, so I tend to talk about art-related topics with art-infatuated people when I get the time.

I enjoy realistic paintings more than anything, but I find traditional illustrations equally interesting. Although I'm currently going through a more experimental phase to make solid career decisions :0

Pardon me if I've skimped over any introduction etiquette. I hope we become the best of partners and get along.

Kind regards

  Hello, World! And future friends
Posted by: adrikovitch - 01-02-2021, 05:33 PM - Forum: INTRODUCE YOURSELF - Replies (4)

Hey everyone!

I've been lurking this forum since I found it some months now. I used to go on the forum in ConceptArt and really wanted to join another old school forum with Sketchbook threads.

I'm 29 living over in the East coast of the US. I've been wanting to get serious with art for a few years now and I'm finally at a place in life where I can do so. I plan to start from the bottom and establish a solid foundation in the fundamentals of art. I've been pulled towards Perspective for some reason and though it's arguably "out of order" in the way you're "supposed to learn", that's what I've decided to study first. I did take a few drawing classes in college post-bachelor's degree so I did technically learn the fundamentals... I just don't think it was "serious" enough and consider that it was more of an introduction.

Anyways, I don't have much to share at the moment, but I thought I'd say hello. I'm hoping this forum is my new home :)

Shocked One Thousandth time's the charm
Posted by: Arqm - 12-16-2020, 03:01 PM - Forum: INTRODUCE YOURSELF - Replies (5)

Hello Crimson Daggers forum! Call me Arqm. I'm 19 years old and this is probably the thousandth something attempt of me "picking up" art again in the past four to five years. I started drawing when I was in High school, and at the time it was simply a coping mechanism for dealing with stress and the bullying I received while attending. After a while I ended up enjoying drawing and I wanted to pursue a career in it.(Was hoping to do Character Design and 2D animation.) So, I started to take it a bit more seriously and began my efforts to improve. I bought and studied a ton of art books (figure drawing, anatomy, etc.), took art classes, got critiques from other artists on my work, and I practiced almost everyday. My confidence was very high in the beginning, but it started to waver when I slowly realized no matter how much I did and how much time I put in it, my art never seemed to improve or get better. It always seemed fixed. And even if I did make some progress it was only by a little bit each time. I ended up trying to apply to an art school with what I had and their rejection only confirmed that I wasn't good enough.

After that, I dropped it for a while, at least as far as doing it seriously. It seemed useless to continue it when I was getting nowhere. The quarantine and pandemic, however, has given me a lot of time on my hands and made me realize that I lack any sort of skill to call my own. Art was the only thing I could sort of call my own despite how shit my work was. That's why I've come here today to start over and try to see if this time around I can do it somewhat competently with the help of others.  Looking foward to drawing with you all.
