  Aspiring Artist
Posted by: McJohnArt - 09-20-2015, 03:07 AM - Forum: INTRODUCE YOURSELF - No Replies

As a digital artist I have mainly been self taught, and while I have had some great teachers to help me along the way I am always open to joining a new community of artists.  I enjoy critiques and feedback of any kind.  I am hoping to be able to receive suggestions from more experienced artists than myself, so if you see any of my pieces of artwork and know how I could improve on it, please let me know.

Sadly I do not have an abundance of extra time being that I am currently enrolled in a collegiate level Video Game Design program and plenty of side projects that I am working on.  I do want to make more time to work on my artwork though, and hopefully I will be able to get back into the routine of drawing at least one picture a week.

My original goal when I started to create digital artwork was to become a concept artist.  I am still hoping to work on concept art someday, however, getting a job doing pretty much any sort of work in the Video Game Design industry would be great!

I have worked on a few commissioned pieces, and I am open to taking on more freelance jobs in the future, so let me know if you are interested in commissioning or hiring me.

Hey!  Sorry about the weird thread title, it was the first thing I thought of haha.
I'm an aspiring illustrator/character designer (and maybe concept artist) for videos games who is currently in her Senior year of high school.  I'm really into video games, cartoons, and art (obviously).

I've joined a couple of art forums in the past, but I heard that this place was pretty cool so I came here to check it out!  I hope that I'll be able to meet lots of helpful/friendly/all around cool people here.  It's nice to meet you all!   Blushing

Hello there!

I’m Henri. I’m 22 turning 23 soon. I’m aiming to become some form of professional illustrator though I’ve had no formal art training and I’m starting to feel I’m not progressing properly. I’ve been casually drawing since I was younger; I started keeping all of my drawings in sketchbooks in 2011, and only finally realized I want to do this for a living back in Dec 2014. Since then, I’ve been trying harder to improve my skills through books and videos and while I feel I’ve made some progress I know it’s not as good as it should be. I need to make better use of all the time I have and improve my study methods (and my work ethic XD).

I’ve never directly asked for help with my art so I’m looking to reach out to people more knowledgeable than me. There is so much more I should be doing to improve but it's hard keeping my sanity going at it alone. It’s pretty intimidating posting here since everyone has far better artwork but I’m really hoping I can group together with some others working towards similar goals.

Here’s my DeviantArt and my Sketchbook.

  A newbie approaches
Posted by: Northwind - 09-06-2015, 11:05 AM - Forum: INTRODUCE YOURSELF - Replies (1)

Hello everyone. I am an absolute newb when it comes to art, but I would really like to learn. When I was younger, I fancied myself a writer. I have all these amazing scenes and stories in my head, but I can't find the write words to put them onto a page. So then I thought, why don't I learn how to put these pictures in my head directly onto the page instead. I'm pretty much starting at square one. I'm joining a forum to get some help starting out on this path. And also to kick my butt when I try to be lazy. Seriously, I give you guys permissions to do so. Anyways, I look forward to chatting, and learning from you all. Thank you. :)

  Hey Everyone!

Hey everyone,

My name's Dave, and I've been studying a long time on my own with getting better, and I'm here to reach out and get the hard advice on getting better and making my freelance career work for me.

It's been a trip with a lot of confusion and stumbling along the way, but I'm ready to sit down and get my problem areas figured out.

If you guys want to check out my work, it's at www.davidszilagyi.com

Take care and time to hit up everyone else on the introductions!

Likes: Pinups, horror, long walks on the beach.

Dislikes: That little bit of pudding at the bottom of the pudding cup that you can't get with your spoon. Seriously, it's the worst.

:D

  Life sucks, time to study!
Posted by: SketchStick - 08-31-2015, 12:45 AM - Forum: INTRODUCE YOURSELF - Replies (5)

Hi! You can call me Sketch.

I do illustration, animation and programming. I take my craft pretty seriously and I think it's important that I'm able to draw anything, as I want to do complete scenes where both the environment and characters have the same level of detail. Just heads up, I'm on a bit of a binge with non-human characters right now...

The last few years of my life has been absolute hell and while I made some progress during that time, I'm no where near the skill level I should be as my study habits took a severe hit. If I'm going to improve my situation I need to start pushing towards doing art full-time and that means ramping up my art production and addressing all my weaknesses.

I'll be starting with the figure, just working my way through the usual gestures and anatomy. I need to make an effort to learn all the origin and insertion points properly so I can get all the muscles as crisp and defined as possible, also to put a ton of work into my arch nemesis: hands. After that I'll probably shift more into still-life and environments...

It's nice to meet you all and I hope you don't mind me spamming my sketchbook thread with lots of nude things.

Hi everyone, my name is Rob and I am looking to get better at digital illustration. I don't have a strong art foundation (although I can draw pretty well).
I recently discovered digital illustration and have fallen in love with it. I am 26 years old and would like to make it a career in the future. I know it's going to be a long journey but I'm glad to see there are so many of you that are looking to get better just like me. As a beginner, I welcome any tips that you guys have about getting started with all this art stuff. Cheers
