So i played with concept around turning pokemon into kaiju and just did  Rayquaza and change nothing just because i found the concept already pretty cool and challenging by itself.

I had in mind a challenge for myself to model an armor so i took inspiration from dragon ball and model vegeta battle armor.

The challenge was mostly about learn new workflow to model more organic shape.

I like the style achieve here. I wanted a beat up look.

Playing around with a bit of realism and hair system in BLENDER. This time i used the cycle engine as i heard it the one that give better realistic result.

This is Venonat. I modified the eye and nose to have a bit more of a realistic texture the model is taken from pokemon X/Y on 3DS.

Day 3 of Swordtember -Intimidating Shamshir of the troglodyte

Failed Design

I miss a few day of the event and i started poorly

I somewhat manage to get the menacing look but trying to also make the design fit a specific race prove to be the real challenge here i ran out of time to complete this one. Reason being was that i research to much due to the topic and than i struggle to find the rhythm to piece the concept together before it was possible to achieve anything i felt was possible to model.

I remember trying to define the handguard shape and the handle shape to have been a time sink in my research on shamshir sword. The hand guard size is also pretty absurd with a step back but somewhat felt necessary to establish the shape language and sometime an interesting design is about pushing proportion so you kinda have to take that kind of risk.

Day 4 -Energic Ikakalaka

Was somewhat more successful

Description: The pommel of this weapon bears a single diamond

This one gave me some trouble i was doing some experimentation with displacement map and playing around with bevel to help create the effect of a corner getting hit by light. There was also some lesson to be learn about inset if you are familiar with blender.

The visual style didn't really end up where i wish it would be that the challenge of trying to work on a time limit. The blade ended look way flatter than i wish for but at the same time if i didn't put it into somewhat of a shadow the lighting would have just lost it read.
