Zeezee's Sketchbook
#1
So thought I'd get my sketchbook started by posting a bit of older stuff then update it regularly with current stuff.

Sorry if this isn't how you're meant to do this :/ I just thought I'd get something up.

Please, please, please....critique the hell out of me! I have a thick skin that I doubt even a crimson dagger could pierce ;) at least I hope so :/ and I really want to get better, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Looks good so far! Would like to see you apply this too some imaginative stuff!

Hey zeezee, those studies look quite pretty, especially renderingwise! Though you seem to be a bit more confident with traditional stuff (which is not bad). Is everything referenced or are some of them from imagination? Anyway, seems like a cool start to a sketchbook to me!
Critiquewise I'd like to hear what you're actually aiming at. Of course overall improvement is great, but do you rather want to do illustration, conceptart, something else or all together? And maybe it'd be nice to see some of your own ideas, because studyingwise you seem to do quite well. Ah, another point may be that you actually posted a lot of figure/ face studies; though you seem to be quite comfortabel with it; maybe trying something entirely different like architecture/ landscape etc might be a good idea.
Well, anyway, cool to see you started this sketchbook, and right away with some nice drawings; sorry if my comment wasn't that constructive :)

Edit: Ha, there you got me. Now I posted this and see you already posted new stuff at the same time. My only-humans comment is officially getting redundant now :)

@kidult Thanks for the comment, will get on some imagination stuff and see what you think.

@foxflake Thanks I appreciate your comments. Nearly everything I tend to do is from life or from reference, I hadn't really thought about it but ye I guess I should be focussing on drawing from imagination too :/ As for goals....an artist/digital artist? If I'm being honest I haven't really got a clue, a job where I can make a living from drawing and painting is the dream. Whether that is in Illustration, concept art, entertainment industry, freelance. Hopefully joining in CD will help me find a direction. Architecture and Landscapes(especially) are things I LOVE looking at but have never tried myself, good idea!

Really quick portrait study.

Trying to get used to digital on computer instead of iPad...

Finding photoshop hard to get used to :( sticking to only ever using round hard and soft brushes to try learn basic skills. Still not sure what I should have pen pressure set to? just opacity? Definitely not size unless its a pencil line :/

Ah well got to keep pushing and keep playing.

Hey zeezee, it's looking good! Try and push for more contrast in your next one (lighter lights and darker darks) if that made sense lol.

You're really banging out the work today lol which is good. Only crit from me would be that the left eye looks smaller than the right. Other than that I like it!
