Oooohoho, nice Shin!
I like what you did with that "The Moon" piece, interesting stuff - is it a matte painting? I'm guessing Anthony Jones is one of your main influences? Don't be afraid to let your own personal voice speak though <3

To see this much improvement in just a year's time is mindblowing. Really inspirational to see this kind of stuff.

Really nice progress! I'm liking the consistent practice of your values, and it really is starting to show through in your colors.
Since you're sticking with you B&W values, I'd say to be mindful of the value separation between your light and your darks. Your current values are a little muddied, and that might be due to a lack of a central light source, which you seem to be introducing more and more. The muddiness is more or less apart of the skin tones, as a lot of your shapes, cloth, and other objects have much cleaner value separation. Keep using those light sources, and be deliberate with them as much as possible to help define the separations better, and you should be good! It will also help you with your volume as well. Besides that, just watch the smudge tool usage. On a couple of these it's overly apparent, and aside from that, they look nice. Keep up the good work! :] |
