Crackedskull - Oh man, you're totally right, I'd learn a ton from something like that. Gonna try and push this piece to a finish, but maybe after that. I really need to just knuckle down and see how far I can push something, a mega-master study would be a good way to do that :). Good shout.

Jake! Good to see this one being pushed to finish, with all the studies and everything. I've always felt like I learn the most after doing the finished stuff, but I totally know the feeling you describe.
I know it's still in the early stages, but if I could offer a couple crits on that last piece: I think if you moved the dragon's head more to the right so we can see more of it, it would help with the composition; he feels a little hidden behind the knight. Also I think if you made the knight a darker value, it would help him stand out more from the dragon and help the value read. Again, apologies if the crits are a little premature, I know it's still a WIP. Keep pushin it! You're almost at the halfway point woooooooooo

I think today was the first time I spend more time going through pages of your sketchbook and let me say again, that I am truly amazed at your progress. Looking up to such dedicated humans.

pnate - Not at all man, thanks :) I've changed it up a fair bit since that image. Worked underneath some lines and changed the lighting, just gotta work into it now. I think moving the dragon's head definitely helped, the values definitely still need some work though. Cheers dude :)
denikina - Ah, thank you. It means a lot :)
Studies for some other stuff
And some more work on that dragon dude. Couple of steps below. Not that interesting, but I've been experimenting with the 'Find Edges' filter in photoshop (number 2) as a way to quickly create a line drawing from a sketch. Then you can set it the filtered layer to multiply and work underneath. It's not ideal, and it's definitely not a great line drawing, but its a nice shortcut. Only started using it recently and not sure if I'll stick with it, but thought I'd mention it in case it's useful for anyone :).

that knight piece is great man, it pops right out. are you done with it? if not id say you can add some mist/clouds and maybe repeated rocks that vanish into the back to add some depth, all just personal opinions though.

BenFlores - Cheers man. Kept working on it and those tips came in handy. I tried to work a few more rocks, and get some more mist in there. Maybe it worked? Not sure lol.
Studies for other stuff
And, I think this is finished. Open to any crits or whatever though, if you spot something :)

JJ Aaron - Yeah, I was working on it the other way round for a while, but then I worried his sword would be on the wrong side. Maybe I flip it and he's left handed lol?
Study
And whatever this is. My sketching's ugly as shit.

The one with the light beam looks great - was it just a study or some idea of your added? Anyway it's very interesting.

Holy crapazoid! You're getting soo good man! :O Haven't been here in a while, so yeah. Your work with colors is really enjoyable! I'd suggest busting out a bit more hand studies, though. Hogarth is really good about that :)
Keep it up man! :)

Passed 4500 Hours Here
Othrandir - Haha, cheers man. Yeah I end up bullshitting hands so often. I'll try and do some intensive study once I get a bit more free time again :)
So, been a while. Got a fair amount of client work on atm, plus had a rush graphic design thing to do recently. Busy... Still alive though. :)

Grats on passing 4500h!
500h more and you're half way there, geez that goal is just huge man :D
Still waiting on those master studies.
Heres a link to hi res master images, some really nice Rembrandt stuff in there. http://www.metmuseum.org/collection/the-...er-culture
Also if you check the departments section in the link you can find armor and costumes from history, which gives a ton of useful refs.
Keep it up man.

crackedskull - Yeah, you're right lol. I so wanna do master studies again, totally swamped atm though. I'll try and make some time in a few weeks/next month I think. Cheers for the link :)
Not a lot to show for the last 100 hours (shiiiiit), working on NDA stuff mostly. I'll get back into personal work soon hopefully :)

Always following your progress on Tumblr. Nice to see you nearing the half-way mile stone.
Do you often look back at the progress you've made in your 10,000 hour quest? The difference between page 1 and page 36 is inspiring.
